Metals Global Technology & Marketing Director (W/M)
In the Customer & Markets team of the LI WBL, the position reports to the Metals Pole Director. The scope is mainly focused on steel - and to a least extent to non ferrous - markets worldwide.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Role :Be the Group reference in the knowledge of the primary production processes and technologies of our Steel and non ferrous customers, as well as the use of industrial gases associated:Be able to develop / use steel primary production processes models to provide an in-depth understanding of the industrial gas needs for projects under development,Anticipate future technological evolution of the steelmaking & non-ferrous industry, and consequences in terms of business needs and strategic moves for the Group
Develop relationships and lead strategic discussions with technology providers
Lead the Strategic & Operational marketing activities, relying as well on Market managers in the team.
Give to the Group the strategic orientations for the steel & non-ferrous industries.
Contribute to the development of business opportunities with the geography clusters:bring the expertise to assess the viability of the sites,assess the P&L of customers’ sites,understand the customer IG needs on primary production and their sustainability,propose differentiating solutions.
Be the spearhead of the Group to identify future opportunities, and develop customer intimacy ahead of the projects through strategic conversations.
Make AL visible on these markets, and a valuable partner for our customers.
Share the Metals expertise within the Group
Be AL’s external voice in different organizations (e.g. Association for Iron and Steel Technology, European Steel Technology Platform), and events.
Main responsibilities:Execution & performance of Site Competitiveness Assessment, process owner
Leader and owner of the Metals Market Technology Roadmap, driven by business needs
Leader of the the Market, Technology & Competitive watch,Lead some
Market studies
Support to the Group strategic plans, and WBL strategic initiatives
Bring support to the clusters for prospective and business development needs, promote AL’s solutions to steel and non-ferrous customers, contribute to the development of Regional Accounts along with clusters
Owner of the Metals market data bases, as well as the customers’ processes models.
Internal Training on Steel & Non ferrous technologies & markets
Coordinate with internal AL stakeholders in Metals Market (Industrial Merchant WBL, Engineering & Construction, R&D, Clusters…)Are you a MATCH?10-15+ years experience minimum
Strong technical background in the steel primary production processes through an operational experience within a steelmaking company ( typical position: Ironmaking manager at a Technology Department, R&D Department or major steel plant manager, Ironmaking or Steelmaking Operations Manager ) (Group Senior Expert or above level type of profile)
Steel markets knowledge, non-ferrous is a plus
Have strong networks in the steel industry
Ability to network with senior technical representatives of the steel industry (e;g.: CTO, R&D Directors)
Soft skills: strong customer orientation, active listening and integration of the different views (humility), strategic thinking & long-term vision, leadership & communication capabilities, analysis and synthesis capabilities.
