Metals Global Technology & Marketing Director (W/M)

In the Customer & Markets team of the LI WBL, the position reports to the Metals Pole Director and focuses on steel and non‑ferrous markets worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic and operational marketing activities, supporting the team of Market Managers.
  • Provide the Group with strategic orientations for the Metals industry.
  • Develop business opportunities with clusters, assess viability of sites, reconstitute customer P&L, understand customer needs and sustainability, and propose differentiating solutions.
  • Identify future opportunities, develop customer intimacy through strategic conversations, and position Air Liquide as a valuable partner.
  • Share Metals expertise within the Group and become the Group reference on Metals technologies.
  • Anticipate technological evolution in steelmaking and non‑ferrous sectors and its impact on business needs and strategic moves.
  • Develop relationships with technology partners and represent Air Liquide in relevant organizations and events.
  • Own and execute Site Competitiveness Assessments.
  • Serve as process owner for the Metals Market Technology Roadmap and lead Market, Technology & Competitive Watch studies.
  • Produce and distribute the Internal Quarterly Newsletter and collaborate with Market Managers.
  • Interface with E&C and IM WBL Marketing Teams to support Group strategic plans and WBL initiatives.
  • Support clusters with prospective and business development needs, promote Air Liquide solutions, and contribute to developing Regional Accounts.
  • Maintain Metals market databases and customer processes models.
  • Conduct internal training on Metals technologies and markets.

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of experience.
  • Strong technical background in steelmaking processes and operational experience within a steelmaking company (Group Senior Expert or higher).
  • Knowledge of steel markets; non‑ferrous experience is a plus.
  • Established networks in the steel industry.
  • Soft skills: strong customer orientation, active listening, integration of diverse viewpoints, strategic thinking, long‑term vision, leadership, communication, analysis, and synthesis capabilities.

Position preferably based in Europe; other locations may be considered.
