Mechatronic Engineering Internship H/F

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer based on a new kind of superconducting qubit known as the Schrödinger cat qubit. The project focuses on autonomous quantum error correction.

The team consists of over 200 professionals from 31 countries, united to build a practical fault‑tolerant quantum machine. The internship offers exposure to cutting‑edge quantum hardware and multidisciplinary engineering.

Internship Details

Internship start: September 2026

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design (3D and 2D) and sizing, incorporating thermal and structural constraints for demanding environments.
• Participate in design for manufacturing: create parts technical drawings, select materials, consider machining constraints, heat and surface treatments.
• Follow parts manufacturing, reception, inspection, and assembly processes.
• Assist in integrating electronic or RF components into mechanical assemblies.
• Participate in setting up test benches and experimental configurations.
• Support testing, qualification, troubleshooting, and data acquisition on multidisciplinary systems.
• Draft assembly procedures, technical documentation, and system/interface diagrams.

Requirements

• Final year of Master’s degree in Engineering in Mechanical Design or Mechatronic Systems.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and 2D drawings.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, metallic materials, machining, and assembly.
• Knowledge of electronics, instrumentation, or mechatronic systems.
• Familiarity with test benches, sensors, wiring, and connectors (plus).
• Strong hands‑on mindset.
• Organised, autonomous, and detail‑oriented.
• Curious and willing to work across disciplines.
• Problem‑solving mindset.
• Fluent in English.
