Mechanical Production Engineer Internship H/F

PARIS, 75
il y a 15 jours

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault‑tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We’re a diverse team of 140+ brilliant minds from over 20 countries united by a single goal: to revolutionise computing with a practical fault‑tolerant quantum machine. Are you ready to take on unprecedented challenges and contribute to revolutionising technology?

Looking for an internship at the interface between design and production?

As a mechanical Engineering Intern focused on assembly and testing, you will support manufacturing activities, ensure smooth process follow‑up, and contribute to assembly and validation tasks. While staying connected to design, your main focus will be on shop‑floor operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Ideal for hands‑on candidates who enjoy turning designs into reliable, tested systems.

The Mechanical Engineering intern contributes to both design and production‑oriented activities, supporting the full lifecycle of electro‑mechanical components from concept to industrialisation.

Key areas include:

  • Mechanical design, dimensioning, and sizing of components
  • Thermal calculations (expansion, contraction) adapted to operational and manufacturing constraints
  • Creation and optimisation of manufacturing drawings and processes for production following
  • Hands‑on involvement in prototype reception, inspection, assembly, and validation in‑house or client site

This role is strongly connected to production, assembling and validation needs, ensuring that all process after purchasing is under control with reporting phases.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to mechanical design and sizing, including thermal constraints in cryogenic environments
  • Creating and updating manufacturing drawings and technical documentation compliant with needs of for production end assembling needs
  • Participating in the industrialisation process, ensuring designs are adapted to workshop and compatible with client site
  • Following up on production progress, identifying risks (delays, non‑conformities), and proposing corrective actions
  • Supporting incoming inspection, parts validation, and assembly activities in collaboration with production teams
  • Contributing to the definition and improvement of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, treatments)
  • Assisting in equipment testing, qualification, and validation, ensuring compliance with technical requirements
  • Drafting assembly procedures, work instructions, and operational documentation
  • Supporting testing campaigns and analysing results with a production‑oriented mindset

Under the supervision of a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will gain hands‑on experience in real industrial conditions, particularly in environments involving cryogenics (near 0 Kelvin) and RF/superconducting systems, where precision and production quality are critical.

Requirements:

You are currently enrolled in the final year of your Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Technical skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanics, manufacturing processes, and thermal engineering
  • Knowledge of material properties, selection, and characterization
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, 2D drawings, ISO dimensioning)
  • Familiarity with PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM is a plus)
  • Basic understanding of production environments, machining (CNC and conventional), and assembly processes

Soft skills:

  • Strong interest in production, manufacturing, and industrialisation challenges
  • Organised, autonomous, and detail‑oriented
  • Ability to interact with cross‑functional teams (engineering, production, suppliers)
  • Proactive mindset with problem‑solving capabilities
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Written and oral skills in French is a plus

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of cryogenic systems or experimental environments
  • Basic understanding of RF electronics or superconducting technologies
  • Previous industrial or production‑related experience

Benefits:

  • 1 day off per month
  • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law)
  • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped and regularly stocked kitchen
