Founding Mechanical Engineer — Medical Device Start Up

We are a venture-backed medtech company developing a minimally invasavice, at-home blood-monitoring platform.

This novel, automated system is designed to collect and analyze blood microsamples at home, monitoring various biomarkers for hig-risk patients that allow clinicians to understand patient dynamics, adjust treatments and respond quicker when interventions are needed.

The role

We are looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer to take ownership of a core part of our product: the blood-collection device and its disposable components.

You will work directly on the architecture, design, prototyping, and testing of a complex medical device, taking ideas from early concepts through to robust, manufacturable solutions.

This includes:

• Designing mechanisms and components from first principles
• Building and testing prototypes
• Solving challenges involving tolerances, materials, sealing, actuation, and fluid handling
• Designing test rigs and characterizing system performance
• Investigate failures and translate findings into design improvements
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners
• Move designs from rough prototypes toward a reliable medical product
• Challenge assumptions and take ownership of technical outcomes
