Principal Delivery Engineer – Mechanical / Electrical (Data Centres)

The Role

As a Principal Delivery Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) , you will take a leading role in the design, delivery, and optimisation of critical systems across complex data centre projects.

Working from concept through to commissioning, you’ll ensure infrastructure is efficient, resilient, and aligned with operational demands in live, mission‑critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design delivery across mechanical (cooling/HVAC) or electrical (power distribution/UPS) systems
• Review and challenge designs for efficiency, resilience (N+1 / 2N), and cost optimisation
• Own system strategy (cooling or electrical) and overall performance outcomes
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and single points of failure (SPOFs)
• Support commissioning, IST, and project handover
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure integrated system performance
• Evaluate vendors, equipment, and technical solutions
• Drive PUE optimisation and sustainability initiatives

About You

• Proven data centre experience (mechanical/cooling or electrical/power focus)
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Strong technical expertise in:
• Mechanical: HVAC, thermodynamics, heat load management
• Electrical: LV/MV systems, UPS, generators, critical power
• Strong understanding of resilience in mission‑critical environments
• Track record working with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
• Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
• Experience with high‑density environments or liquid cooling
