MAXIS GBN - FP&A and Actuarial Manager F/H
VOTRE RÔLE ET VOS MISSIONS
The FP&A and Actuarial Manager is responsible of the Financial Planning Analysis and Actuarial department of MAXIS and reports directly to the Chief Financial and Technical Officer of MAXIS GBN. S/he will lead a team of about 6 people. The FP&A Actuarial Manager will be a member of the Technical Committee of MAXIS/Axa/MetLife/.
The mission of the FP&A Actuarial Manager is to ensure full control on MAXIS Reinsurance P&L and Balance sheet, define and lead corrective actions to reach MAIXS targets. Three main responsibilities:
(i) Financial Planning
- Portfolio Monitoring: ensure technical profitability and value creation. Evolve and transform the profitability framework. Identify remedying actions on key items that might derail the achievement of technical targets and lead execution. Work with Members evolving current rules and foster discipline in disclosure
- Planning: define forecast, budged and plan. Ensure an effective target setting for the main MAXIS ceding companies
- Network Steering: run member review on selected members (constantly expanding remit) and initiate the execution of remedying actions also leveraging due departments within MAXIS
- Financial Reporting: calculate P&L / Balance sheet financials for Axa and ML to validate
- Control: ensure proper controlling across all items impacting Technical P&L and Balance sheet. This ensured also in collaboration with the Reinsurance and Reporting team (in charge of data collection and client reporting)
- Client management: and special situations direct interact with clients in case of specific issues or demands (this is key and growing) leading technical discussions
(ii) Actuarial
- Reserves: ensure calculation of reserves both long (ROE) and short term (IBNP). Identify eventual gaps, define corrective actions, and ensure their execution. Propose improvements to current methodologies and constantly expanding scope of analysis
- Collateral and Sum at Risk: maintain collateral methodology up to date, ensure collateral implementation for both existing and new captives also facilitating request, through proper business case, of waivers in specific situations. Measure sum at risk, report to Axa/ML and take proper actions in case of deviation from risk appetite framework. Propose modifications to existing Captive and Non captive programmes agreements to ensure value is shared in a way consistent with MAXIS targets
(iii) Analytics
- Define, maintain, and run the analytical tools for financial reporting to Axa and ML: Produce the P/L and Balance sheet deliverables agreed for proper accounting within primary reinsurer, Produce set of accounts to enable retrocession between primary and secondary reinsurer, Build and oversee the MAXIS Technical P&L and balance sheet, Perform due analysis for financial Planning
Axa/MetLife: ensure alignment with Axa/ML respective financial departments on all the abovementioned matters.
VOTRE PROFIL
Required Competencies
- Degree in Actuarial Sciences , Statistics, Mathematics or other equivalent discipline. CFA is a plus.
- At least 7-10 years of experiences in similar or relevant positions is required
- Deep knowledge of accounting method, planning methodologies and financial analysis techniques
- Proven knowledge of Solvency II / IFRS17 / GAAP framework for Non-Life and Life Technical Provisions
- Deep knowledge of Non-life and Life insurance business, possibly in different markets and actuarial models
- Strong Managerial capabilities to act with high degree of independency, to effectively manage a team of about 6 reports and to frequently report to CEO, MAXIS ExCom and Axa/ML (in particular to Technical Committee)
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset to act as the founder of the Actuarial unit. Problem solving, communication skills. Ability to manage complexity. Detail oriented and proactive approach
- Proven capabilities to manage teams and projects in highly complex environments (120 members, two reinsurers, Fortune 500 clients, …)
- Expert in Microsoft Office software suite, actuarial tools or equivalent and programming languages
- Willingness to work in a truly dynamic and international environment
- Based in Paris or London , fluency in English, French a plus
