Job Overview
Join Euronext Market Services (EMS) as a Market Analyst within the Cash Market Operations team in Paris. EMS is the front line in ensuring fair and orderly markets across many European exchanges. In this role, you will help safeguard the integrity, transparency and smooth operation of trading activities on Euronext’s financial markets.
Key Missions
- Monitor all trading activities across Euronext financial markets in real-time to identify potential market abuse, manipulation, or violations of trading rules.
- Analyze market anomalies, price fluctuations, trading volumes, and other key indicators to detect risks of malfunction or non‑compliance with market rules.
- Review activity reports and alerts generated by surveillance systems, conducting in-depth investigations to understand the underlying causes of incidents or irregularities.
- Perform all necessary functional checks throughout the day to ensure a smooth running of the market.
- Collaborate with compliance teams and external regulators to investigate potential breaches of market rules and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on detected incidents, providing recommendations for improving surveillance processes and contributing to periodic regulatory reports.
- Stay up to date with the latest financial regulations and standards such as MiFID II and MAR and ensure surveillance practices are aligned with regulatory changes.
- Continuously look to improve and optimize processes and operational activities to increase effectiveness and value delivered to clients.
Key Accountabilities
- Self‑administered, resourceful, and continuously seeking improvement and contribution to the EMS team.
- Strong knowledge of Cash and Derivatives and basic technical tasks.
- In-depth understanding of EMS market processes, procedures and specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant pricing theory, models, trading strategies and EMS tools.
- Prevent, detect, and manage issues that may jeopardise market fairness and orderliness, and avoid conflicts of interest with the firm or its shareholders.
- Work effectively in a virtual cross‑location team to monitor markets across both centres.
- Provide functional expertise, advise on platform impacts and improvements, and confirm end‑user acceptance to ensure operational readiness.
Background / Education
- Master’s degree in Finance, Law, Economics or a related field. Additional certifications in financial regulation or market analysis are advantageous.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a financial institution, exchange or market regulatory authority.
- Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written. A third language is an advantage.
Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in market surveillance tools (specialised software, anomaly detection tools, etc.).
- In‑depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards such as MiFID II and MAR.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and market behaviour.
- Good understanding of financial markets, market structures and their evolution from a business, competition and regulatory perspective.
- Ability to learn basic technical IT knowledge.
- Computer literacy: MS Office, VBA, basic programming concepts.
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Self‑motivated and proactive.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in client‑facing contexts.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑oriented with a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
