Job Description
The Opportunity:
The purpose of this position is to manage commercial execution across an assigned portfolio, ensuring global and regional plans are effectively localised and delivered in market. The role drives in-market performance through strong execution of events, partnerships, and retail activation, supported by close cross‑functional collaboration and ongoing performance optimisation. In addition, the role includes direct people management responsibility, with accountability for leading, developing, and supporting a team member to deliver business objectives.
What Your Impact Will Be:
1. Local Brand Strategy and Planning
- Execute global franchise priorities, product direction, campaign beats, and licensor guidance through a locally relevant brand and activation plan.
- Define local campaign priorities, launch timing, consumer needs, cultural considerations, and market-specific opportunities.
- Ensure the local brand plan reflects the agreed franchise moments, tentpoles, product priorities, and commercial ambition.
- Maintain alignment between product plans, marketing plans, retail messages, and local business objectives.
- Ensure the local market speaks with one clear company voice when engaging licensors, retailers, and internal stakeholders.
2. Product Development and Local Line Plan Input
- Validate whether global and regional product plans work for the local market.
- Provide input to regional team on product relevance, consumer needs, assortment requirements, pricing realities, launch timing, and local opportunities.
- Flag to regional team product gaps, market-specific needs, local consumer insights, or risks that may affect market success.
- Support regional and local line plan refinement after global direction is set.
- Partner with Sales and Omnichannel Retail Marketing to capture retailer feedback, channel requirements, demand signals, pricing risks, space constraints, and customer timing considerations.
- Escalate major risks related to product relevance, timing, approval status, pricing, market readiness, or local execution.
3. Marketing Planning and Campaign Activation
- Build the local brand and activation plan, aligned to global and regional priorities.
- Define local launch plans, campaign phasing, media needs, asset requirements, and execution priorities.
- Identify required adaptations of global assets for local consumer, retailer, media, legal, language, and cultural needs.
- Confirm what content, approvals, assets, guidelines, and licensor support are required for local execution.
- Coordinate with Omnichannel Retail Marketing and Sales to ensure the marketing plan supports customer needs, promotional windows, and retailer sell‑in.
- Flag gaps in timing, budget, assets, licensor approvals, local readiness, or execution support.
- Work with agencies and internal teams to deliver approved local campaign materials on time and in line with licensor guardrails.
4. Licensor Relationship Management at Local Level
- Maintain regular contact with local licensor counterparts to align on plans, priorities, approvals, assets, launches, and market opportunities.
- Share local plans, key milestones, retail priorities, performance updates, and action plans with licensors as needed.
- Ensure licensor feedback is captured, clarified, actioned, and communicated internally.
- Coordinate local licensor support for major launches, tentpole moments, retail activations, customer meetings, summits, or events.
- Operate with transparency, speed, accountability, and clear follow‑up.
- Document decisions, owners, actions, and timing after key meetings.
- Escalate partnership issues, approval delays, conflicting feedback, asset gaps, or commercial risks early.
5. Go‑to‑Retail and Sell‑In Support
- Adapt the global retail pitch story into a locally relevant brand, franchise, and consumer narrative.
- Build or support local sell‑in materials with brand context, consumer insights, market opportunities, tentpole moments, and product priorities.
- Ensure product messaging, marketing support, retail activation, and customer‑facing materials are aligned.
- Partner with Sales to support retailer meetings, toy fairs, previews, summits, top‑to‑tops, and local customer presentations.
- Coordinate with Omnichannel Retail Marketing on displays, merchandising, shopper programs, retailer media, digital retail support, and promotional execution.
- Capture retailer feedback and feed it back to Regional Marketing, Global Commercial Marketing, Omnichannel Retail Marketing, Sales, and licensors as appropriate.
- Support embargo management where required.
6. Retail Activation and Omnichannel Execution
- Partner with Omnichannel Retail Marketing to define retail activation needs based on the brand and marketing priorities.
- Ensure shopper marketing, in‑store visibility, retailer media, digital shelf content, e‑commerce assets, merchandising, displays, and promotional plans are aligned with the campaign strategy.
- Confirm that assets and toolkits are ready for local retail execution.
- Monitor activation readiness and flag risks related to asset availability, display timing, retailer compliance, promotional support, or customer execution.
- Share activation learnings to improve future planning, sell‑in, and forecast assumptions.
7. Financial Forecasting, POS Tracking, and Business Management
- Provide local business commentary on brand, franchise, category, consumer, market, and competitive drivers.
- Support forecast updates with local market insights, launch assumptions, consumer trends, retail realities, and activation plans.
- Partner with Sales to understand customer‑level forecasts, POS, inventory, orders, distribution, space, and volume commitments.
- Identify risks, upside opportunities, demand shifts, execution gaps, and recommended corrective actions.
- Connect performance insights back to marketing, product, and retail plans.
- Support business reviews, licensor updates, and forecast discussions with clear local commentary and action plans.
- Track whether marketing and retail activation help drive sell‑through.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 6–8+ years of experience in FMCG commercial, brand, trade, or sales strategy.
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading and managing a team.
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong commercial judgment.
- Analytical capability and data‑driven decision making.
- Cross‑functional collaboration.
- Execution discipline and attention to detail.
- Independent problem‑solving.
