Manufacturing Assembly Line Architect (f/m)

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Manufacturing Assembly Line Architect (f/m) to join the Manufacturing Engineering & Env. Tests Constellations department based in Toulouse, France. The role is part of the Constellations Satellites project and focuses on designing and optimizing high-volume, high-performance satellite production lines to deliver cutting‑edge space solutions for both commercial and government customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and design of Final Assembly Line (FAL) processes and all related Manufacturing Ground Support Equipment (MGSE).
  • Ensure mechanical designs are optimized for serial production and define manufacturing processes to support high‑volume satellite assembly.
  • Specify and manage validation procedures for integrated assembly stations, including mechanical integration, smart tool integration, and automation sequences.
  • Develop mechanical routing for standard and non‑standard assembly flows (repairs, late deliveries) and implement corrective actions for any non‑conformities.
  • Act as a technical expert by providing manufacturing test aids and training assembly line operators on new processes and equipment usage.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency and extensive background in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in satellite manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design (Assembly, Integration, and Test – AIT).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Composer).
  • Strong knowledge of Assembly/Manufacturing processes and MGSE design and validation.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (e.g., SAP).
  • Experience or knowledge in smart tool programming (e.g., Desoutter) or geolocation systems (e.g., Sarissa) is a significant plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis skills.
  • Proven ability in project management and transversal coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and convince diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of rigor, organization, and synthesis capability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and highly skilled engineering environment.
