Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Airworthiness Engineer to lead and manage the certification activities for our Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), Aircraft Data Communication Network (ADCN), Centralized Maintenance Systems (CMS) and Connectivity systems and functions. The successful candidate will ensure that, for the complex changes and/or projects they are in charge of, systems (ATA 31/42/45/46) and functions (e.g. Aircraft Data Collection, Predictive Maintenance, etc.) achieve timely airworthiness approval from relevant authorities such as EASA and FAA. This position also carries a strategic responsibility for shaping the future regulatory environment and representing Airbus in critical rule‑making activities with global authorities and industry partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage the overall certification strategy and plans for complex changes and/or projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with aviation authorities (e.g., EASA, FAA), preparing and leading technical meetings, audits, and formal reviews to demonstrate compliance.
  • Ensure all systems and equipment strictly adhere to applicable airworthiness requirements (CS25), industry standards (DO‑178, DO‑254, DO‑160, ARP4754), and specific certification requirements.
  • Oversee creation, review, and approval of all certification‑related documents, including plans, checklists, test reports, and analysis documents.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams—systems design, software/hardware development, safety, security, quality assurance, configuration management, and programs—to integrate certification requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify certification risks, develop mitigation plans, and manage issues impacting project schedule or compliance.
  • Lead improvements to certification processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and ensure the highest level of compliance and safety.
  • Actively monitor and lead rule‑making activities for upcoming changes in global aviation regulations and emerging technologies (e.g., Skywise, 5G, AI/ML). Develop strategies to ensure future products are designed for forward compatibility and certification readiness.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of experience in the aviation industry.
  • Significant experience in systems design, development, integration or safety for IMA, ADCN, CMS or Connectivity systems/functions, with a solid understanding of the associated development and certification processes.
  • Prior certification or airworthiness experience is a strong asset, but not mandatory for candidates with strong systems development or safety experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of key industry standards: ARP4754, ARP4761, DO‑178, DO‑254.
  • Strong leadership and project‑management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate and build relationships with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical, detail‑oriented, and highly organized.
  • Positive, solution‑oriented mindset when facing deadlines.

Benefits

  • Financial rewards: attractive salary, success agreements, profit‑sharing schemes, employee savings plan, voluntary stock purchase plan.
  • Work/life balance: extra days‑off for special occasions, holiday transfer option, staff council providing social, cultural, and sport activities.
  • Wellbeing/health: complementary health insurance (disability, invalidity, death), site‑specific health services, concierge services, gym, carpooling application.
  • Individual development: upskilling opportunities, unlimited access to e‑learning courses, expert career pathways, accelerated development programmes, national and international mobility.
