Offer Description

The framework of this position is an 8-year strategic partnership between SAFRAN and ARIANE GROUP with the CORIA laboratory around the YALES2 software platform. The partners wish to strengthen the development of this platform to meet the needs of unsteady simulation applied to the following perimeters: lubrication, cavitation, liquid injection, fire resistance, fuel/propellant tanks, hydrogen combustion, aerothermal flows. The activities of the hired researcher will be mostly focused on two-phase flows.

The mission of the research engineer is to set up multi-physics simulations with large supercomputers on the perimeters of the project by developing advanced pre- and post-processing, the necessary models and numerical methods, to ensure the operational support of the platform for our industrial partners, to ensure the training of users. The work of this collaboration is organized in a series of use cases all requiring to achieve different scientific and technical tasks. The monitoring of the work is carried out in the coria-cfd.fr software forge, which includes a large number of essential services: gitlab, mattermost, mediawiki, jupyter notebooks, etc.

The research engineer will carry out:

  • i) Analysis of the issues related to the different use cases.
  • ii) Performing massively parallel simulations
  • iii) Development of the necessary pre/post-processing tools
  • iv) Development of numerical models and methods related to use cases
  • v) Operational support to industrial partners (bug resolution, case analysis)
  • vi) Participation in training / animation of the life of the network

CORIA is a CNRS joint laboratory with INSA and University of Rouen. CORIA is a Mechanical Engineering Lab (200 people) fully devoted to reacting flows. This includes main interests in different fields as combustion, plasmas, spray studies, energetic processes. Approaches are experimental, with a great emphasis on optical methods as well as theoretical, through modeling of reacting flows. The laboratory is thus developing experimental diagnostic as well as new theoretical tools. Its mission is to provide excellence in scientific research and development, and it maintains strong links with industry.

  • Computational fluid dynamics, computational analysis, object-oriented programming
  • Language skills
  • Writing quality in English, ability to formulate and lead a scientific project
  • Ability to work in a team

The candidate must have a degree in engineering in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Mathematics
