M&A Junior Consultant - Technical Due Diligence

Role Overview
You will work alongside Partners, Senior Consultants, and peers across the Climate, Sustainability and Transactions and Low Carbon Solutions teams to provide Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators. The position will be based in Paris (or Lyon).
Responsibilities
- Assist on projects that evaluate the technical, operational, and business plan of proposed infrastructure investments.
- Coordinate typical project deliverables such as Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings, and report delivery.
- Evaluate technical, operational, commercial, and economic aspects of infrastructure and energy assets—including asset condition, performance, Opex/Capex, management and operating concepts, and business plans.
- Identify, assess, and clearly present transaction‑relevant risks and opportunities, including deal breakers, value creation potential, and integration and optimization approaches.
- Work effectively across technical communities within ERM and subcontractors identified as Subject Matter Experts to support project delivery and client interaction.
- Deliver proposals, including development of our company profile, scopes of work, scheduling, and commercial terms.
- Complete internal development tasks to improve the functionality of the infrastructure Mergers & Acquisitions service line.
Qualifications
Essential
- Solid academic background with an engineering bias (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering).
- Early‑career (graduate, internship) technical consulting and/or engineering experience within the energy/infrastructure sectors.
- Technical skills to read and understand technical documentation and identify potential risks and opportunities related to asset integrity, operational performance, management systems, and business plans.
- Excellent organisational, self‑motivation, and self‑sufficiency; ability to work successfully in a fast‑turnaround team environment.
- Strong report‑writing skills and effective communication.
- Interest in the intersection between sustainability and infrastructure solutions.
- Excellent written and spoken local language (native) and English.
Desirable
- Previous experience in technical due diligence (preferred).
- Interest in economics and finance, and/or experience with business plans.
- Willingness to travel for site visits within continental Europe.
- Early‑career involvement or experience in client‑project management.
- Additional language proficiencies.
- Experience in renewable, bioenergy, waste & circularity, power, heat & water networks, fuels & chemicals, low‑carbon fleets & transport, buildings & civil infrastructure, digital infrastructure, or maritime sectors.
- Background or education in EHS regulation or soil and groundwater risk assessment, supporting the EHS Due Diligence team on an occasional basis.
