Luxury Wine Estate Butler & Events Manager

A prestigious wine estate located near Bordeaux (Gironde, 33) is seeking a Butler / Estate Manager to oversee event and reception coordination, formal table service, and the day-to-day management of the property alongside the existing on-site teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general presentation and upkeep of the estate, maintaining its standards at all times
  • Act as the central liaison between the various departments on the property
  • Manage daily operations alongside the housekeeper, including interior upkeep of the château and setup for professional events
  • Handle all aspects of formal table service: table setting, floral decoration, food and beverage service
  • Prepare reception and meeting rooms for events
  • Coordinate teams and external service providers during receptions, lunches, dinners, and tastings
  • Welcome clients, visitors, owners, and their families
  • Receive and supervise external contractors (caterers, suppliers, tradespeople)
  • Identify and report any preventive or corrective maintenance needs to the relevant estate teams
  • Manage logistical inventory: furniture, linen, hospitality materials, and technical equipment
  • Supervise household staff (one office employee on site)
  • Recruit and train temporary/extra staff as needed
  • Handle harvest season logistics: meal ordering for harvest workers, supplier coordination
  • Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines
  • Uphold the estate's luxury standards and brand image at all times
  • Run errands and manage purchases, including maintaining an accounts ledger for owner and estate expenses
  • Manage food and general stock
  • Provide driving services on request
  • Attend to all requests during the owner's and family's presence on the estate

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role or in luxury hospitality
  • Versatile, flexible, autonomous, dynamic, and proactive
  • Strong organisational and operational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed sense of high-end service
  • Mastery of formal table service (French service style)
  • Sensitivity to the wine and vineyard environment
  • Discretion and confidentiality guaranteed
  • Proficient with communication tools and office software
  • French and English spoken — a plus
  • Valid driving licence required
