Job Description
We are seeking an astute and autonomous litigator to serve as a senior-level Counsel within a bustling litigation department. This role is designed for a seasoned attorney who possesses the procedural acumen to manage sophisticated files from inception through verdict with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will spearhead defense strategies in high-value matters, specifically focusing on insurance coverage disputes, extra-contractual liability (bad faith) claims, and broad-spectrum commercial litigation.
Day-to-day responsibilities include acting as the primary architect of case strategy, conducting distinct legal research, and drafting dispositive motions. You will serve as the lead advocate in depositions, mediations, and oral arguments in both Federal and State courts. This position requires a practitioner who can translate complex legal theories into actionable, pragmatic business advice for clients. You will function not merely as a contributor, but as a hands-on leader of your caseload, driving matters forward with precision and confidence.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active and current licensure to practice law in the State of Washington.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of substantive litigation experience, with a focus on the timeframe of 8 to 12 years of practice.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing complex civil litigation files independently.
- Admission to the Oregon State Bar is highly advantageous.
- Extensive "First Chair" trial experience, demonstrating the ability to lead cases rather than delegate substantive tasks.
- Deep subject matter expertise in insurance bad faith defense and complex coverage analysis.
- Proven track record in a large law firm or a sophisticated litigation boutique environment.
- Portable book of business, while not required, is viewed favorably.
