Linux / Unix Systems Expert – Obsolescence

• Lead and contribute to infrastructure obsolescence management projects for Linux and Unix environments, from analysis through implementation of action plans
• Test, script, and validate technical action plans, then document the corresponding procedures for operations teams
• Help steer obsolescence initiatives through tracking indicators and contribute to their prioritization
• Propose migration, virtualization, and replacement strategies for obsolete infrastructure
• Define target hardware architectures and contribute to cost optimization, particularly with regard to licensing costs
• Contribute to the evolution of security processes and the updating of OS images, agents, and server components
• Assess and implement in-place OS migrations, particularly in Red\u00A0Hat environments
• Monitor decommissioning plans for Solaris and HP-UX environments
• Maintain compatibility matrices and monitor the life cycles and evolution of Linux and Unix systems
• Participate in capacity management for Compute and virtualization environments
• Provide technical assistance and support to international and local IT teams
• Prepare technical recommendations and roadmaps for project and operations teams

Requirements

• Higher education degree in IT, systems and networks, or an equivalent field
• Significant experience in Linux / Unix administration and expertise in complex production environments
• Hands‑on experience with infrastructure obsolescence management, migration, or decommissioning
• Expertise in Linux system administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7, 8, and 9)
• Strong knowledge of Unix environments, particularly HP-UX and Solaris
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and good knowledge of Python
• Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite for patch management
• Knowledge of Ansible and automation practices
• Good understanding of system life-cycle management, obsolescence, migration, and decommissioning
• Knowledge of Linux OS deployment and updating
• Fluent professional English is essential
• Ability to work in an international environment and collaborate with remote technical teams
• Occasional availability for on‑call duties or work outside standard business hours
• Knowledge of Veritas Cluster, Centrify, or Avamar environments is a plus
• Experience in international and/or banking environments is a plus
