About the Role
Responsibilities
Regional Legal Leadership
- Lead and manage the legal function for the Europe region, overseeing a small team of legal professionals.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to regional executives and management teams, providing strategic and practical counsel.
- Deliver commercially oriented legal advice that balances risk with business objectives.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to support regional growth, operational efficiency, and business priorities.
Commercial & Corporate Support
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements.
- Oversee corporate governance, entity management, and board-related matters for regional entities.
- Support day-to-day business operations, internal policy development, and process improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Provide expert guidance on compliance matters, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across the region.
- Lead internal investigations and coordinate compliance reviews when required.
- Manage litigation, arbitration, regulatory inquiries, and other dispute matters within the region.
- Engage and supervise external counsel to ensure efficient, cost-effective legal support.
- Develop proactive strategies for dispute prevention and risk mitigation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with business leaders, finance, HR, procurement, sales, and operations teams.
- Conduct legal training sessions and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in France (or equivalent European jurisdiction with French qualification).
- Minimum 12-15 years of post-qualification legal experience, with substantial in-house experience supporting multinational businesses.
- Proven track record of handling complex legal matters across multiple European jurisdictions.
- Deep expertise in commercial contracts, corporate law, compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to deliver pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice.
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable interacting with senior executives.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a reputable international law firm before transitioning in-house.
- Experience supporting multinational companies in the manufacturing, technology, industrial, or supply chain sectors.
- International education or work experience across multiple countries.
- Additional language skills (e.g. Chinese, German or Spanish) are a plus.
- Prior experience leading a legal team or managing a regional legal function.
