Legal Counsel
Role Summary
Legal Counsel – Second member of Photoroom's legal team. Work closely with the Head of Legal to support sales, growth, tech, and people teams in navigating applicable laws and regulations.
Compensation: €63,000-€76,000 depending on seniority + Stock‑Options/BSPCE
Location: Paris‑based, 3 days/week in the office. Relocation within Europe available.
About the Role
- Own commercial contracts end‑to‑end. Draft, review, and negotiate agreements for sales, growth, product, and engineering. Act as contract advisor across the business.
- Take GDPR compliance to the next level. Work with the Head of Legal and DPO to implement privacy by design and strengthen the data treatment register, privacy policy, and IT security routines.
- Help our product stay ahead of AI regulations. Monitor new rules; assess impact on machine learning and AI initiatives and advise teams on required adaptations.
- Keep our IP position solid. Manage trademark registrations, domain names, and infringement monitoring during expansion.
- Support the Head of Legal on business needs. Dive into corporate, labour, public affairs and beyond, expanding skillset as the business grows.
About You
- Solid legal experience in tech. 2–5 years at a top‑tier or tech‑focused law firm, an in‑house counsel at a SaaS start‑up/scale‑up, or both. Hands‑on exposure to commercial contracts and at least one of GDPR/privacy, IP, or regulatory compliance.
- Master's degree in law. Bar admission is a plus but not required.
- Fluent in French and English. Draft, negotiate, and communicate effectively in both languages.
- Think like a business partner. Translate legal questions into commercial context, propose workable solutions, and prioritize clear, timely outcomes over perfection.
- Comfortable with async, remote‑friendly, fast‑moving work. Manage multiple workstreams independently and keep stakeholders informed without constant follow‑up.
- Familiarity with AI technologies and their legal implications is desirable. But more important is the ability to learn quickly.
If you meet many, but not all, of the above criteria, we encourage you to apply.
