Role Overview
The Lead Subsea Pipeline Designer will act as the technical authority for rigid subsea pipeline design on a major deepwater development. The position oversees routing, spool and jumper design, and advanced walking/buckling assessments, ensuring all engineering deliverables meet project standards and interface requirements.
This role suits a senior designer with strong subsea pipeline experience, proven coordination capability, and confidence leading design activities across a multi‑discipline environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Design Leadership — Serve as the technical lead for rigid subsea pipeline design across the project lifecycle.
- Pipeline Routing — Develop and optimise subsea pipeline routing in deepwater environments, considering seabed conditions, installation constraints and field architecture.
- Spool & Jumper Design — Lead the design of spools and jumpers, ensuring constructability, flexibility, and alignment with installation methodologies.
- Walking & Buckling Analysis — Oversee global buckling, lateral buckling, and pipeline walking assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and project criteria.
- Deliverables Coordination — Manage and coordinate all pipeline design deliverables, ensuring timely submission, quality control, and alignment with project standards.
- Standards & Compliance — Ensure all work adheres to project specifications, industry standards (e.g., DNV, ISO), and internal governance processes.
- Interface Management — Collaborate with structural, installation, materials, and flow assurance teams to resolve design interfaces and technical queries.
- Design Reviews — Lead and contribute to design reviews, HAZIDs, and constructability sessions.
- Technical Assurance — Provide expert input to ensure design integrity, safety, and fitness‑for‑purpose throughout the project.
Required Experience
- Subsea Pipeline Design experience within deepwater projects.
- Strong background in rigid pipeline routing, spool/jumper design, and global buckling/walking analysis.
- Proficiency with relevant design tools (e.g., CAEPIPE, SAGE Profile, Orcaflex, AutoPIPE or equivalent).
- Familiarity with DNV‑ST‑F101, ISO standards, and deepwater design methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate deliverables and lead design activities within a multi‑discipline engineering team.
