Get to Know our Team

In Agoda’s Back-End Engineering department, we build scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs that host our core business logic. Our systems cover inventory and pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, payments, and more. We employ state-of-the-art CI/CD and testing techniques to ensure everything works without downtime. Our systems are self-healing and handle extreme loads or unexpected input. We use modern languages like Kotlin and Scala, data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, MLflow, Kubeflow, VastStorage, StarRocks, and agile development practices.

In This Role, You’ll Get To

• Architecting and developing highly scalable, mission-critical back-end systems
• Owning a significant portion of Agoda’s system from vision to implementation
• Enabling collaboration and cross-team projects on large initiatives, improving the quality of services, code, and architecture
• Providing thoughtful feedback, nurturing an inclusive engineering environment, and championing engineering fundamentals
• Identifying and implementing optimization opportunities across the technology stack focusing on cost, efficiency, velocity, and developer happiness
• Exhibiting technical leadership and communicating complex trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Overall experience of 10+ years in software engineering roles
• Hands-on experience owning production services with significant impact on design, development, deployment, monitoring, and evolution
• Curiosity and staying up-to-date on technological improvements and open-source advancements
• Strong programming skills in Kotlin, Scala, Java, or C#
• Ability to perform deep research and make decisions on complex projects; able to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical details to stakeholders at all levels
• Understanding of challenges and trade-offs across the engineering domain, from Front End/Mobile to Data Analytics
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Location

This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand. Relocation package is provided.
