Overview

Technip Energies is a global technology and engineering powerhouse across LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO2 management. We are looking for a Lead HSE Design Engineer in our Chemical Process Engineering Department, reporting to the Process Safety Department Manager. The role is based in Nanterre, Paris, France.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and quantify risks and HSE impacts.
  • Recommend mitigation measures to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
  • Design and implement prevention, control, mitigation, and protection systems.
  • Provide safe designs that protect personnel, environment, and assets.
  • Lead the HSE Design team, managing schedule and budget for HSE activities.
  • Coordinate with the client, partners, third‑party authorities, project management, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in safety reviews: HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, etc.
  • Conduct preliminary risk analysis, plot plan reviews, 3D model reviews, and identify safety‑critical elements and criticality ratings.
  • Perform hazard area classification, fire protection studies, gas detection, personnel protection, escape & evacuation, and supply of firefighting equipment.
  • Model consequences to assess safety distances and design accidental loads.
  • Follow up on QRA, FERA, EERA, ROM studies and environmental and health impact studies.
  • Prepare high‑quality deliverables within project constraints and mentor junior engineers.
  • Contribute to R&D subjects, technical presentations, and project close‑out reports.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Safety Engineering.
  • 15+ years of HSE Design experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy transition, mining, or pharmacy.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes & standards (NFPA, API, IP, EN, ISO) and company HSE specifications.
  • Sound judgment in technical matters and plant design optimization.
  • Previous team‑management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in English; business trips abroad are occasional.
