Lead Engineer - Fixed Income, Algo Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lead engineer to join our Fixed Income Technology team, specializing in low‑latency Algo trading. The Senior Vice President will be a key technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of our next‑generation cross‑asset Algo platform including pricing, hedging and execution systems. This hands‑on role combines deep technical expertise in Java or Rust with leadership and a strategic mindset, and includes mentoring engineers and driving adoption of modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead the architectural design and development of a high‑performance, low‑latency Algo platform for Fixed Income products.
• Hands‑On Development: Code actively in Java or Rust, setting the standard for quality, performance and reliability.
• System Architecture: Define and drive the long‑term technology vision for the order management platform, ensuring it is scalable, resilient and aligned with business goals.
• Low‑Latency Optimization: Design, implement and optimise trading workflows for ultra‑low latency.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with traders, quantitative analysts and product managers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Mentorship & Guidance: Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Production Support: Act as a senior escalation point for complex production issues, ensuring platform stability.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Extensive professional software development experience, especially in low‑latency Algo trading or order management systems.
• Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Fixed Income products, electronic trading concepts, market data and the trade lifecycle.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Java or Rust with focus on performance‑critical programming.
  • Order Management Systems: Proven experience designing, developing and maintaining cross‑asset OMS.
  • Low‑Latency Pricing, Hedging and Execution: Demonstrable expertise in building and optimising these systems.
  • Vendor Connectivity: Hands‑on experience integrating with and managing connectivity (e.g., Redline, ION).
  • High‑Performance Messaging: Knowledge of middleware such as Aeron or Solace and low‑latency data handling techniques.
  • Distributed Systems: Proven experience designing complex, fault‑tolerant, distributed systems.
  • Development Tools: Competence with Git, Jenkins, Docker, OpenShift and other modern tooling.
• Leadership: Experience leading software projects, mentoring engineers and making key architectural decisions.
• Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills under pressure.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.

What We Offer

Hybrid working model – 2 days a week from home.

Competitive salary range: €113,200.00 – €186,800.00 per year.
