The Business Unit You’ll Be Joining
The Energies Business Unit (BU) is comprised of two main activities:
- The T&D division, operating under the Bouygues Energies & Services brand, specializes in the transmission and distribution of electricity. This includes overhead lines, high‑voltage substations, underground connections, special foundations and T&D services.
- The Photovoltaic and Battery Storage division, under the Equans Solar & Storage brand, is a unique partner offering integrated, high‑performance, large‑scale solutions for solar and storage projects in France and internationally.
What You’ll Be Leading
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high‑voltage substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) layout and design. This role involves leading the design, development and implementation of electrical systems throughout both the sales and execution phases, ensuring all projects meet technical specifications, comply with safety standards, and fulfill client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review detailed designs and layouts for substations and BESS, including electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, and general arrangement drawings.
- Provide technical guidance and support in substation and BESS design, including equipment selection, protection and control systems, grounding, and power distribution.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations for the applicable countries.
- Perform design reviews, inspections, and testing to ensure quality and performance of electrical systems.
- Work closely with clients together with the business development/bid manager during the commercial phase and with the project manager during execution to understand requirements, provide technical solutions, and present design concepts and project progress.
- Lead engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget and coordinating with cross‑functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, reports, and as‑built drawings.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
The Profile You're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substation and BESS design (preferably OEM or EPC).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, Cymcap), knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, testing and commissioning.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a strong capacity to maintain a “helicopter view” and outstanding communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced, parallel workflow environment.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
