Overview

Job Description Summary: As Combined Cycle Plant Process & Performance Engineer, you will provide gas plant heat balance diagrams, functional specifications for main plant mechanical equipment, plant performance predictions and performance correction curves for tender and execution projects worldwide. You will define system integration concepts to support decarbonization solutions for pre-combustion (hydrogen) and post-combustion (carbon capture) technologies. You will provide technical expertise on plant performance and bottoming cycle design aspects. This role has English and French descriptions included in the original text.

Responsibilities

  • Provide combined cycle modeling guidance and leadership to develop and execute configurations with winning performance for ITO proposals, OTR projects and NPI and standardization initiatives.
  • Lead the completion of heat balances and produce correction curves to support timely bid execution.
  • Maintain close working relationships with component AEs and Pre-ITO RCAEs to ensure smooth transition with well-developed multi-channel deal strategies.
  • Perform system engineering for core combined cycle plant equipment, including process calculations and design of components (pumps, control valves, heat exchangers, HRSG boilers) based on heat balance process data.
  • Deliver heat and mass balance diagrams and performance correction curves for project execution (customer projects) and development projects (R&D).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary global engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify and develop plant integration concepts to support cleaner energy solutions.
  • Publish technical data generated for assigned projects in line with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Play an active role in technical project risk management related to plant design and performance.
  • Apply prior experience and new technical expertise to execute business strategy and support development of standards, technical harmonization, design practices and templates.
  • Continuously improve organizational workflows and processes.

Qualifications

  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge in thermodynamics and plant equipment process design; advanced experience in Engineering/Technology & Process Engineering; level comparable to a Bachelor’s degree (or a Master’s degree preferred) or a high school diploma with relevant experience.
  • Experience demonstrating GE Vernova leadership behaviors: Innovation, Customer, Lean, One Team and Accountability.
  • Technical competencies in combined cycle performance/optimization, thermodynamics and equipment process design; strong understanding of Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle, and Steam Turbine products.
  • Experience with process integration and simulation tools (e.g., Ebsilon, Thermoflow, Gatecycle, Aspen).
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teaming skills; ability to coordinate multiple projects proactively; strong analytical skills; independent and collaborative work capability.
  • Ability to understand process flow diagrams, plant operational concepts, water/steam cycle technology, performance guarantees, and equipment sizing.

Desirable Characteristics

  • Same technical knowledge areas as above with emphasis on performance/optimization of combined cycles and thermodynamics; strong knowledge of gas turbines, combined cycles, and steam turbines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and proactively.
  • Strong analytical capabilities for autonomous or team-based work; proven problem solving and creativity in design.
  • Experience with process integration and simulation tools (e.g., Ebsilon, Thermoflow, Gatecycle, Aspen).
  • Understanding of process diagrams, operational concepts, steam/water cycle technology, performance guarantees, and equipment sizing is advantageous.
