Junior Tax Analyst - Apprenticeship
Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and rigorous Junior Tax Analyst Apprentice to join the France Tax Team in Massy. This apprenticeship is designed for a student following a high‑quality tax law curriculum who is eager to develop strong technical tax skills in a large international group environment. The apprentice will support the French tax team and contribute to operational and technical workstreams for France and EMEA, including tax input on tenders and commercial contracts, corporate income tax compliance, preparation of French tax packages, technical research and internal tax memoranda. The role offers direct exposure to practical corporate tax matters, cross‑functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, Treasury and business teams, and the opportunity to understand how a listed multinational group manages tax risk, compliance and business support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the France Tax Team with the preparation and review of French corporate tax compliance deliverables, including tax returns, supporting schedules and tax packages (liasses fiscales), under the supervision of the team.
- Support EMEA business teams on tax aspects of tenders and calls for bids, including preliminary tax analysis, identification of tax assumptions, risk points and information required from internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the review of commercial contracts from a tax perspective, including withholding tax, VAT, permanent establishment, invoicing flows, tax gross‑up clauses, documentation requirements and other relevant tax considerations.
- Prepare first drafts of internal technical tax memoranda and position papers on French and international tax topics, based on legal research, official guidance, case law and internal facts.
- Perform tax research and monitoring on relevant French, EU and international tax developments and summarise the potential impact for the group in a clear and operational format.
- Assist with tax audits, internal controls and documentation requests by collecting information, preparing supporting files and maintaining an audit trail of analyses performed.
- Support the team in the coordination of tax information with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Accounting and operational teams, ensuring timely follow‑up and clear communication.
- Help improve internal tax processes, templates and knowledge management tools to promote consistency, efficiency and traceability within the team.
- Develop a practical understanding of how tax matters are managed within a large international company, including governance, risk management, compliance deadlines and interaction with business priorities.
Qualifications
- Master’s student (or equivalent) in Tax Law, Business Law, Finance, Accounting, or related field, with a focus on corporate taxation.
- Strong academic background and demonstrated interest in French and international tax.
- Solid analytical skills with a structured and rigorous approach to legal, tax, and financial topics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
- Detail‑oriented, reliable, and highly discreet when handling confidential information.
- Curious, proactive and eager to learn, with a collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
- Well‑organized with a strong sense of ownership, able to work effectively in a team and in an international environment.
Preferred
- First internship or apprenticeship experience in a tax department, law firm, accounting firm, audit firm or finance department.
- Knowledge of French corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, tax consolidation, transfer pricing or international tax principles.
- Interest in tax technology, process improvement, data analysis and the use of digital tools to improve tax compliance and reporting.
- Ability to work in an international environment and to communicate effectively with colleagues based in different jurisdictions.
