Job Description: About Us & The Role Join the Cloud Security & Automation team within Digital at Airbus Defence & Space! The Cloud Team builds, maintains, and evolves DCS (Digital Container Services) alongside our broader cloud-native and IaaS ecosystem, powering mission-critical workloads across the enterprise. As a Junior Solution Architect , you will work at the intersection of enterprise physical infrastructure, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), and cloud-native platforms. You will help design the low-level compute, storage, and networking foundations that support virtualized environments, modern containerized platforms, and high-density GPU-accelerated AI workloads. This role offers a unique hybrid focus combining physical systems engineering, IaaS design, container networking, and ITIL process discipline-providing an exceptional launchpad for a career in cloud architecture . Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & Datacenter Capacity Design : Assist in architecting physical server topologies, bare-metal deployments, and IaaS layers for cloud-native and container platforms. Evaluate rack space, power delivery, heat dissipation, and cooling constraints, particularly for high-density GPU nodes.
- IaaS & Virtualization Scope : Help design and evaluate scalable Iaa
S architectures, ensuring seamless integration between virtualized infrastructure, bare-metal systems, and container platforms (Open
Shift/Kubernetes). - Networking & Storage Architecture : Help build high-throughput storage solutions (block, file, persistent container storage, and object/S3) and robust networking layers. Support the connection of on-premise infrastructure with sovereign and hybrid cloud environments.
- ITIL Process & Operational Governance : Active participation in Change Advisory Boards (CAB) and Problem Management. You will help evaluate complex platform changes, analyze root causes for incidents, and ensure solutions align with ITIL operational practices.
- Hardware & Platform Sizing : Work alongside hardware vendors and infrastructure teams to benchmark, size, and specify enterprise servers, virtualization environments, GPU clusters, and networking hardware.
- Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Early Career / Young Talent : 1-3 years of hands-on experience (including strong working student roles, internships, or personal lab/project experience) in systems engineering, IaaS platforms, or core IT infrastructure with a practical understanding of daily IT Operations and system monitoring.
- Infrastructure & Hardware: Foundational understanding of enterprise server hardware, datacenter fundamentals (rack design, power/PDU planning, thermal handling), and virtualization/IaaS concepts.
- Hardware Acceleration (GPUs) : High curiosity or basic familiarity with GPU server architectures (e.g., NVIDIA enterprise hardware) and their physical/compute requirements.
- Cloud-Native & Container Basics: Basic knowledge of Linux administration, virtualization technologies, and container orchestrators (Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift).
- Networking & Storage Concepts: Solid grasp of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and container networking interfaces (CNI). Exposure to enterprise storage architectures (SAN, NAS, distributed storage, or S3 object stores).
- ITIL & Process Discipline: Familiarity with ITIL workflows, especially Change and Problem Management, with a structured approach to troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required, combined with proficiency/native capability in at least one primary language of the Airbus Core Countries (Spanish, German, French, or English).
- Analytical Mindset: Excellent problem-solving skills and a drive to understand how hardware, IaaS, and container software stack together.
- A high-impact position building expertise across bare-metal systems, IaaS, container architectures, and AI infrastructure.
- Direct mentorship from senior solution architects in an international enterprise environment.
- An agile, supportive, and collaborative team within Airbus Defence & Space.
- Vacation days and additional days-off along the year (+35 days off in total)
- Attractive salary and compensation package
- Hybrid model of working when possible, promoting the work-life balance
- Collective transport service in some sites
- Benefits such as health insurance, employee stock options, retirement plan...
- On-site facilities (among others): free canteen, kindergarten, medical office
- Possibility to collaborate in different social and corporate social responsibility initiatives
- Excellent upskilling opportunities and great development prospects in a multicultural environment
- Special rates in products & benefits
