Junior Mechatronics Engineer (F/H)
About Biomemory
-
We're a worldwide pioneer in using synthetic DNA for Data Storage . Wild, right?
-
We're a well-funded startup designing servers for Data Centers.
-
The goal: Store massive amounts of data (Exabytes) for a super long time (100+ years) without breaking the bank.
We're based in Paris, France and Boston, MA USA .
What you'll be up to
-
You're joining the Hardware Engineering team to work on our cool DNA-based data storage systems.
-
We need a hands-on versatile engineer and a true Maker who loves to integrate micro-mechanics, electronics, and firmware into one smooth automated system.
-
You'll work with the biochemistry, mechanical, and electronics teams to get products from the initial idea (specification) all the way to being ready (qualification).
-
If you're a jack of all trades who loves a challenge, this is for you!
Your Main Gigs
-
Design & prototype custom parts for super-precise automated systems.
-
Chat with vendors to get parts made.
-
Develop the brains (electronics & firmware) to control all the sensors, motors, and fluidic parts.
-
Test, tweak, and perfect everything (optimization, testing, validation, qualification). Gotta understand all the steps and what could go wrong!
-
Team up with all the other departments (mechanical, software, electronics, biotech) to make sure everything fits together nicely.
-
Help automate the lab and make the Hardware team's work better overall.
What we're looking for
-
Education : Bachelor's or Master's in Mechatronics, Robotics, or something similar.
-
Experience : 0 to 3 years, ideally in biotech, medtech, lab automation, etc., working on stuff that was actually sold.
-
Maker Mindset : You love the Design-Build-Test cycle. Basically, you enjoy messing around with stuff, building it, and figuring out how it works!
-
You've built a robot or a complex prototype, even if it was just a university or personal project.
Your Skillset
-
Awesome at being creative and solving problems.
-
Solid understanding of:
-
Mechanical Design : SolidWorks/Fusion 360
-
Electronics Design : Altium Designer, KiCAD
-
Firmware : STM, RTOS
-
-
You know how to plan tests, analyze failures, and keep good documentation.
-
You're familiar with electronics debug tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
-
You can roll with the punches in a fast-paced startup and work well with different teams.
-
You can communicate clearly (especially documenting your results).
-
You are eager to learn, and not afraid to jump in and try things!
-
You are comfortable working in English (talking and writing).
The Workplace
-
Onsite : You'll be working in Paris (5 Impasse Reille, 14th arrondissement).
-
Cool Spot : Our offices and labs are designed to bring together hardware, computer science, and biology people.
Why Join Us?
-
Huge Impact : You'll be tackling the global data storage problem with a game-changing, disruptive technology—using biology!
-
Growth : You'll level up your skills fast in a super exciting work environment.
-
Unique Blend : It's the rare place where high-level engineering meets molecular biology.
