Your Mission
Dioxycle is seeking a hands‑on Junior Automation & Electrical Engineer to join our hardware team. You'll be working directly on the control systems that operate our electrolyzer stacks - programming PLCs, maintaining wiring and instrumentation, and helping us build a scalable deployment architecture as we grow from 40 systems to many more.
Your key responsibilities will center around:
- Program and maintain PLC‑based control systems (Beckhoff) on our lab and field electrolyzer units. This covers lab‑scale test units of small and medium size but also includes onsite industrial‑scale pilots.
- Wire, install, and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and electrical panels.
- Work with our team to configure new systems and contribute to how we standardize deployments going forward.
- Collaborate with Dioxycle's software engineers to integrate HMI graphics with control logic.
- Participate in the retrofitting of legacy systems with new‑generation PLCs.
- Occasionally interface with existing C‑based code on older systems.
Abilities and expertise we are looking for
- Diploma (e.g. DUT) or degree in electrical engineering, automation, or related field - or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- 1+ years of experience (internships, apprenticeships, personal projects count; candidates with more experience are warmly encouraged).
- Some exposure to PLC programming (Beckhoff, Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider - any is fine; you'll learn Beckhoff on the job).
- Comfort with at least one programming language (Structured Text, Python, C).
- Understanding of version control (Git) for collaborative code work.
- Familiarity with electrical panel design and reading wiring diagrams.
- Hands‑on experience with sensors, actuators, and basic electronics troubleshooting.
- Comfortable using an oscilloscope and basic electronics measurement tools.
- Bonus: experience with eCAD tools, and/or a background in industrial settings like packaging, robotics, or process control.
Mindset we are looking for
- Exemplary work ethic and self‑driven attitude.
- "Street‑smart": you don't take no for an answer and will figure out a way to solve anything with the means available.
- Commitment to the mission and ambition and to creating a kind, high‑performance and fun atmosphere at work (100% on‑site role).
- Passion for innovation and problem‑solving attitude.
- Dedication to investing time and effort for the betterment of the team.
- Going the extra 20% that makes a good deliverable into an outstanding deliverable.
- Humble, low‑ego and curious.
What we have to offer
- Unique journey: We are an early‑stage company with a world‑class team and a flat structure.
- Impact: We are building a product that will reshape century‑old industrial processes.
- People‑first: We love our people.
- Feedback over ego: We are self‑improving whilst helping others grow.
- International team: Over 17 nationalities.
- Fun: We cultivate a great work atmosphere and organize regular team events.
- Competitive compensation packages.
- Generous Employee Stock Ownership plans.
- Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Ergonomic work stations & state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
