Offer Description
Funded to the tune of 75 M€, the PR(AI)RIE Paris School of AI (PR(AI)RIE-PSAI), a project led by Université PSL in partnership with Université Paris Cité, CNRS, Inria and Institut Pasteur, has the highest budget in the French "IA Cluster" program, aimed at consolidating research, training and innovation clusters in artificial intelligence in France.
As part of this program, PSL University is recruiting 10 AI Fellows (Fellow in Artificial Intelligence) on 3-year contracts, with positions starting at the beginning of the 2026 academic year (between July 1 and September 1, 2026). These positions are intended for young researchers in artificial intelligence who wish to pursue a high-level research career, while at the same time investing in teaching assignments and the development of original courses.
Mission
Paris School of AI - PSL University
The range of courses offered by the Paris School of AI at PSL University, as part of the PR(AI)RIE-PSAI IA-Cluster, covers all levels from bachelor to doctorate for AI specialists and non-specialists (AI+X) in initial and continuing education. Teaching is in French or English, depending on the course. The people recruited will mainly be involved in the following courses:
- International Bachelor of Science in AI;
- Double Licence IA et science des organisations (Double Bachelor's degree in AI and organizational science);
- Master IASD (Master in AI and Data Science);
The people recruited will need to be able to adapt to a wide range of students and teach in AI. Most of the teaching required concerns the "core of AI":
- from introduction to machine learning to advanced statistical learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, ...
- natural language processing, computer vision, data science, ...
More specialized profiles are also in demand:
- AI for science: teaching the use of AI for different scientific disciplines to non-specialists;
- computational social sciences:
- fundamental concepts and theories of the social sciences,
- basic principles of human behavior and decision-making,
- social change and cultural dynamics,
- public policy implementation and evaluation,
- causal inference methods (e.g. regression discontinuity, difference-in-difference, instrumental variables, randomized controlled trials)
- ethics, governance and regulation:
- ethics of AI and algorithmic decision-making,
- justice, fairness and bias in AI systems,
- regulation and governance of AI, including global policy frameworks,
- societal impact of AI, with a focus on economic, cultural and political implications.
The teaching emphasis is on both theoretical foundations and practical applications.
The expected teaching workload is 80 hours of lectures per year (equivalent to 120 hours of tutorials).
Informations - Recherche
PSL University offers an exceptional environment for research in data science and artificial intelligence. Joining PSL University means taking part in a research dynamic of the highest international level, whether in the core fields of AI (mathematics or computer science) or in application fields (physics, astrophysics, chemistry, life sciences, cognitive sciences, social sciences and humanities, etc.).
The research activities of those recruited will have to fit in with the activities of PRAIRIE-PSAI within PSL University, so candidates are invited to put forward suggestions for insertion in existing PR(AI)RIE-PSAI research groups. A letter of support from a team willing to welcome the candidate is a plus but is not obligatory.
Jury members may also make suggestions to candidates.
