Java - DevOps Architect

Join Avanade’s Global Azure Center of Excellence (CoE) as a hands‑on Java Application Architect where you will design modern, cloud‑native, enterprise‑scale applications. You’ll help shape architectural strategy, work on complex deliveries and drive innovation across multi‑cloud environments including Azure, AWS and Google Cloud Platform.

As a senior architecture leader within the Applications & Infrastructure SME team of the Azure CoE, you will collaborate with regions on solutioning and delivery for direct and indirect clients to define software architecture blueprints and implementation roadmaps. You will work across strategic opportunities, guide multi‑team delivery, write reference implementations and help evolve Avanade’s Java, DevOps and cloud‑native architecture point of view. This is a unique opportunity to influence global architecture standards across Azure, AWS and GCP while supporting high‑impact client transformations.

What You’ll Do

• Support region presales and account teams to drive differentiated client value and secure strategic wins.
• Lead architecture for complex, cloud‑native Java solutions across Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Contribute to solutioning of microservices, event‑driven systems and distributed architectures.
• Shape solution vision through multi‑workstream planning and architectural design.
• Identify and grow opportunities in strategic accounts aligned with Avanade offerings.
• Build trusted relationships with technical leaders at key clients in collaboration with Avanade region teams.
• Develop multi‑cloud reference architectures, accelerators and reusable implementation assets.
• Act as senior architect/developer during delivery, writing code for complex components and bringing best practices to Avanade region delivery teams.
• Travel occasionally for high‑value engagements.

Qualifications

Skills and experiences

• 15+ years developing and architecting enterprise applications using Java ecosystems.
• Deep expertise with Spring Boot, Struts, Hibernate, EJB, SOAP/REST, and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with microservices, event‑driven architecture, messaging, SOA, and API‑first design.
• Hands‑on expertise with Azure, AWS and GCP cloud services.
• Experience with serverless, PaaS, containers, Kubernetes and multi‑cloud deployment patterns.
• Strong DevOps skills including CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins), IaC (Terraform/Bicep/Helm), automation and observability.
• Experience designing cloud‑native solutions including microservices, API gateways and IAM.
• Understanding data integration, big data and AI/ML architecture patterns.
• Ability to assess technology fit and ensure consistent architecture across multi‑cloud ecosystems.
• Strong consulting background in solution design, delivery leadership and client engagement.
• Ability to shape PoCs and multi‑year transformation programs across Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Certifications in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), Java or TOGAF preferred.

Its first mission focuses on driving client impact by improving win rates through competitive positioning and presales solutioning, supporting major deals and ensuring a smooth transition from sales to delivery.
