Job Summary
The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Consultant’s role is to work with SHI’s customers to help them understand their software and hardware environment. The ITAM Consultant will join the SHI ITAM team and utilize SHI’s best‑practice procedures, tools, and people to assist customers in controlling software and hardware costs and managing associated legal and financial risks. The position reports to the ITAM Services Manager. The role can be office‑based from either Paris, France, or Milton Keynes, UK, and requires regular travel both nationally and internationally (30%).
Responsibilities
- Engage sales, licensing, customers, and software manufacturers to collect, organize, and manage licensed software assets.
- Interact with SHI licensing executives and software manufacturers to understand licensing aspects.
- Participate and lead peer reviews to oversee ITAM analysts and provide secondary review to ITAM administrators, ensuring process and quality standards are maintained.
- Perform quality checks on customer contract and purchase information to maintain accurate and complete license summaries.
- Apply license rules to hardware and software inventory data to ensure accurate contractual entitlement representation.
- Compare customer contractual entitlements with utilization to assess licensing gaps and surpluses, and provide consulting services to optimize positions.
- Offer consulting on convergence between software and hardware asset management and best practices for concurrent management.
- Advise customers on cost‑effective infrastructure configurations, comparing on‑site data centers and various cloud platforms.
- Define entitlement and inventory scopes to align and ensure consistency.
- Prepare and present ITAM deliverables to customers.
- Communicate accurate conclusions throughout the SAM project lifecycle, including analysis results and project closure satisfaction.
- Ensure all ITAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in line with SHI standards.
- Stay current with industry trends and evolving ITAM service requirements.
- Execute all ITAM consultant tasks according to project plans and internal process standards.
- Collect and manage ITAM‑related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers.
- Ensure customer entitlement and contract data is correctly gathered and maintained.
- Oversee analysis of purchase records and other entitlement information.
- Research product use rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers.
- Load, import, and enter entitlement data into SHI’s ITAM tool according to standards.
- Assist ITAM systems technicians and engineers with software discovery and inventory data management.
- Define entitlement and inventory scope for customers’ ITAM data.
- Participate in customer communications throughout the ITAM project lifecycle.
- Participate in peer reviews of license analyst activities to maintain process quality.
- Participate in pre‑sales activities with ITAM solutions consultants to advise customers on SHI’s ITAM capabilities.
- Attend and support SHI events and vendor shows.
- Design specialist blog articles, webinars, and industry event presentations.
- Engage with governance board and ITAM sub‑committees to document specifications and create new services.
- Coordinate with service delivery teams to communicate project status and ensure milestones are met.
- Perform any other activities defined by ITAM management to deliver ITAM consulting services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum of three years of experience in IT Asset Management.
- Fluency in French.
