Salary: £32,108 – £40,514 per annum inclusive of Oxford University weighting.

Job Description

We are seeking a full‑time IT Support Officer to join the IT Support team at the Department of Engineering Science (Central Oxford & Headington). The post is permanent.

About The Role

As an IT Support Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality IT services to staff and students across the Department of Engineering Science.

Responsibilities

• Provide first‑ and second‑line support for Windows and Linux systems, hardware, software, AV equipment, printers and user accounts.
• Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests, managing incidents and service requests while aiming to deliver excellent customer service.
• Support day‑to‑day technical issues and contribute to service improvements, documentation and departmental IT projects.
• Collaborate closely with academic, research, administrative and student users to ensure IT services support the department’s teaching and research activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in an IT support environment, confident with Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory and end‑user hardware and software.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and maintain high service standards.
• Customer‑focused approach and ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Organised, self‑motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic about developing technical skills and contributing to continuous improvement of IT services.
• Experience in higher education, research or AV support is advantageous but not essential.
