IT/OT System Engineer Life Sciences (gn)

We are seeking a freelance IT/OT systems engineer for a 12-month assignment with a regulated life sciences client in Annecy, France. The assignment begins in June 2026 at full capacity and combines on-site onboarding with subsequent hybrid work, with up to 80% of the time spent on-site in a GxP‑compliant laboratory environment.
Your Mission
You bridge IT and OT in a regulated laboratory environment, integrating scientific instruments and laboratory systems into a complex IT landscape. You ensure GxP and security compliance, coordinate with vendors and engineering teams, and carry technical concepts through to stable operations and clean handover.
Your Responsibilities & Tasks
- Provide technical support to laboratory and scientific teams across planning, deployment, and operation of IT/OT systems.
- Integrate scientific instruments and laboratory systems into existing IT and network infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with GxP, FDA, and ISO requirements across validation, IT security, and documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, engineering teams, and internal technology partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive the full delivery cycle from technical concept through rollout to stable operations.
- Manage maintenance windows, incident response, system rollouts, and asset lifecycle activities.
- Document configurations, processes, and decisions, and hand systems over cleanly to operations.
Required Qualifications
- Solid IT background in regulated environments such as pharma, biotech, or life sciences.
- Strong hands‑on skills in Windows client configuration, imaging, and troubleshooting.
- Proven track record integrating scientific instruments and laboratory data systems into IT environments.
- Foundational network and endpoint security knowledge applied in operational settings. Working knowledge of backup, recovery, and data integrity practices in regulated contexts.
- Confident use of ITSM tools, ServiceNow in particular.
- Comfortable collaborating with scientific, laboratory, and quality or regulatory stakeholders.
- Structured, pragmatic, and solution‑driven delivery style.
- Very good French language skills for daily client interaction.
- Valid French work authorization for the duration of the assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Splunk for log analysis, monitoring, or security use cases.
- Familiarity with BeyondTrust for privileged access and remote support workflows.
- Practical use of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Visio in project and documentation work.
- Background in computer system validation (CSV) under GxP regulations.
- Exposure to OT cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443.
- Experience in international, English‑speaking project teams.
- Good English skills for vendor and internal team communication.
