The Opportunity
A leading European infrastructure investment manager is seeking to appoint a Vice President or Director to join its investment team in Paris. The firm invests long-term institutional capital across essential infrastructure, with exposure spanning energy transition, mobility, digital infrastructure and social infrastructure.
The successful candidate will take a senior role in developing the firm’s investment activity across Spain and Portugal. They will be expected to bring an established network within the Iberian market and a demonstrable track record of originating, executing and managing infrastructure investments.
This is a broad investment role offering responsibility across the full transaction lifecycle, from market development and origination through execution, portfolio management and value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the origination and assessment of new infrastructure investment opportunities across Spain and Portugal.
- Develop and maintain relationships with infrastructure owners, developers, corporates, advisers, public-sector bodies, lenders and other market participants.
- Build the firm’s presence and visibility within the Iberian infrastructure investment market.
- Lead transactions from initial screening through due diligence, structuring, negotiation, investment committee approval and completion.
- Evaluate both brownfield and greenfield opportunities across a range of infrastructure and real asset sectors.
- Coordinate financial, commercial, technical, legal, tax, regulatory and ESG due diligence workstreams.
- Lead the preparation and presentation of investment papers and recommendations to the investment committee.
- Negotiate transaction documentation, financing arrangements, shareholder agreements and governance rights.
- Work closely with portfolio company management teams to develop and implement long-term business plans.
- Represent the firm on portfolio company boards and oversee financial, operational and strategic performance.
- Identify and deliver value-creation initiatives, including refinancing, operational improvement, business development, add-on acquisitions and capital expenditure programmes.
- Monitor political, regulatory and sector developments affecting infrastructure investment across the Iberian Peninsula.
- Support fundraising, investor relations and strategic initiatives where appropriate.
- Manage and develop junior members of the investment team.
Candidate Profile
- Significant experience within infrastructure private equity, an infrastructure fund, a pension or sovereign investment platform, a developer, corporate investment team or another principal-investing environment.
- A strong track record of investing in Spain and/or Portugal, with experience leading transactions through to completion.
- Demonstrable experience across several stages of the investment lifecycle, including origination, execution, financing and asset management.
- An established network across the Iberian infrastructure ecosystem, with the ability to generate proprietary and intermediated investment opportunities.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure investment structures, project finance, acquisition finance and shareholder arrangements.
- Experience assessing assets with long-term contracted, regulated, concession-based or availability-based revenues.
- Exposure to one or more relevant sectors, which may include energy transition, utilities, transportation, digital infrastructure, social infrastructure, environmental services or other essential real assets.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance investment returns, downside protection and long-term stakeholder considerations.
- Experience working with management teams and serving on, or reporting to, portfolio company boards.
- Advanced financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and coordinate multidisciplinary adviser teams.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior investment professionals.

Languages
- Fluency in Spanish and English is essential.
- Professional fluency in French is strongly preferred, particularly given the Paris-based nature of the role.
- Portuguese language capabilities would be advantageous.
Qualifications
- A strong academic background in finance, economics, business, engineering, law or a related discipline.
- Typically 10–15+ years of relevant professional experience, although the precise title will depend on the candidate’s experience and transaction track record.
