Investment Principal Africa - Energy/Impact Financing/VC

The Principal Investment Manager will lead the full investment lifecycle in the SME market across Africa taking ownership from opportunity origination through investment execution, active portfolio management and ultimately exit. We are thus looking to speak to candidates who have a depth of networks in the energy and impact space within the SME and start-up market in Africa, and/or who have come from a similar background and know how to identify and work with entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will lead all aspects of investment execution, including commercial, financial, operational, ESG and impact due diligence, financial modelling, valuation, investment structuring, negotiation and transaction closing. They will prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee, manage external legal and technical advisors, and ensure investments are structured with appropriate governance, reporting and ESG frameworks to maximise long-term value creation.

Beyond transaction execution, the Principal Investment Manager will play an active role in optimising portfolio performance by working closely with founders and management teams to drive strategic growth, operational improvements and commercial success. Representing the firm on portfolio company Boards or Advisory Committees, they will oversee financial, operational and impact performance, identify opportunities to enhance value throughout the investment holding period, and support successful exit strategies. The role will also contribute to broader fund strategy through market intelligence, sector research, investor engagement, fundraising support and the continued expansion of the firm's investment ecosystem across Africa and Europe.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a depth of knowledge of Africa, evidence of growth of SME's within the continent, a large network, and a strong desire for driving impact.
