Investment Cases & Financial Judgment Author
The opportunity
IXO is seeking current finance practitioners for paid authorship and evaluation of difficult analytical cases. You will develop a problem from your own specialty, assemble models, memoranda, filings or data, and explain how an AI response should be assessed. The emphasis is judgment and coherent case design, rather than processing volume.
Areas of work
- Banking/M&A: DCF, comparable-company, precedent-transaction and LBO valuation; execution, fairness analysis, merger models and diligence.
- Private equity/credit: investment underwriting, buyout models, financing structures, covenants and portfolio-company analysis.
- Corporate finance/FP&A: three-statement models, forecasts, budgets, variances, capital allocation and board or management reporting.
- Other specialties include equity/credit research; asset/wealth management, portfolio construction and manager selection; quantitative analysis, derivatives and market/credit/liquidity risk; treasury, capital markets and corporate development.
- Technical accounting under US GAAP or IFRS is relevant where it informs valuation or reporting judgment. Real estate, infrastructure, project finance, Basel requirements, SEC and other regulatory reporting, and capital adequacy are also in scope.
Deliverables combine realistic task instructions, supporting materials, a worked professional answer and a reasoned evaluation of model responses. Explain the assumptions and decision consequences that make the case challenging.
Required background
You must currently work in the field and have at least three years of recent, substantive hands-on finance experience at a recognized institution. You need direct command of Excel/financial modeling and the relevant tools for your specialty, which may include Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, data rooms, ERP/consolidation systems or quantitative/risk platforms.
Relevant settings extend beyond major banks to boutique and middle-market advisory, PE/VC/credit and hedge funds, asset managers, corporate finance/treasury, family offices, insurers, banks/lenders, fintech and regulators.
Strong additional evidence
Ownership of a consequential model, diligence process, valuation defended to an investment committee or client, forecast/reporting cycle, financing structure or decision memo is valuable. Senior practitioner or leadership responsibility - VP, Director, Principal, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, Controller or CFO - is preferred, as is experience across disciplines or both investing and advisory. An MBA/MS/PhD, CFA, CPA, FRM or actuarial designation is optional and preferred.
Engagement and pay
Advertised remote pay is $105/hr USD. At least ten hours weekly is an indicative planning assumption. IXO confirms the rate, scope, schedule and duration before work. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.
Use only public, synthetic or explicitly authorized material. Do not submit confidential employer information, identifiable client records or material nonpublic information. Training outputs do not authorize live client transactions or formal professional opinions.
