International Energy Efficiency Expert on Cooling Appliances

Responsibilities

• Strengthened global policy guidance: Finalization, dissemination, and application of model regulatory frameworks for priority cooling technologies, including air conditioners, refrigeration equipment, and emerging heating and cooling solutions.
• Enhanced uptake of policy tools: Increased use of technical guidance and analytical tools by governments and stakeholders through webinars, workshops, technical exchanges, and contributions to international events.
• Improved sustainable procurement frameworks: Development and rollout of guidance to support public and private sector procurement of energy‑efficient and climate‑friendly technologies, including heat pump‑based systems and cooling equipment.
• Effective communication and application of analytical tools: Dissemination and translation of analytical results into actionable policy insights to support decision‑making, including the use of savings assessments and related tools in policy processes.
• High‑quality technical contributions to knowledge products: Delivery of technical inputs to international guidance materials, including on minimum energy performance standards (MEPS), energy labelling, and testing methodologies.
• Strengthened regional collaboration and alignment: Support to regional efforts aimed at harmonising policy approaches, improving benchmarking, and facilitating dialogue between governments and industry stakeholders.
• Targeted technical support to implementation efforts: Provision of high‑value, on‑demand technical inputs to support policy development, including recommendations on MEPS, labelling systems, and related technical aspects, as well as review of draft regulations and technical documents.
• Ensured technical consistency and quality: Review and validation of outputs to ensure alignment with international best practice and consistency across tools and activities.
• Alignment between policy design and implementation systems: Coordination with relevant teams to ensure that technical standards are aligned with implementation mechanisms, including compliance and enforcement systems.
