Interaction Designer – SDIC

Samsung Design Innovation Center, Paris, France.

Lab Summary

Samsung Design Innovation Center is opening a Computational Design Lab, reinventing the way we design products and manufacturing with computational design, AI and ML in its two office locations: Paris and San Francisco. In this new dynamic lab, we solve inspirational and complex design problems to spark creativity, optimize design concepts, and design innovative products for the present and the future while collaborating between the two satellite offices. The lab engages with various internal teams across the world to create globally‑impacting designs by collecting data, developing models, and applying computations.

We are looking for talented designers to join our group and bring new energy to our process. You should be ready to help at all stages of product design, from identifying unmet and latent needs, discovering new design opportunities, designing new product concepts to applying technology creatively to solve real user problems and create radically new experiences that re‑imagine the way we interact with products.

Samsung Design Innovation Center is one of the leading overseas design studios in Samsung. Our mission is to understand people and lifestyles to deliver meaningful experiences, through beautiful yet functional design, enabled by innovative cutting‑edge technologies.

Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary We are looking for a thoughtful and driven Interaction Designer to join our Computational Interaction Design team at the Paris location. This role is ideal for someone with strong fundamentals in interaction design, a research‑oriented mindset, and the ability to clearly communicate design thinking through presentations, demos, and storytelling. The Interaction Designer will work closely with creative technologists to develop compelling use cases, scenarios and user experience for data‑driven design aided with computational methods. Collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams, you will work on the research, ideation, design, testing and implementation of next‑generation user interfaces for a diversified portfolio of devices and platforms. You will be accountable for developing user‑driven UX solutions and user interfaces that support and enhance creative design processes and products.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of professional experience in interaction design, UX design, or a related role.
  • Master’s degree in Interaction Design, HCI, UX, Design, or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles, usability, and human‑centered design processes.
  • Proven experience conducting and applying user research.
  • Excellent communication skills—comfortable presenting work, telling a clear design story, and creating demo videos.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, or similar.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams while owning design outcomes.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing interaction design, research thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and AI tech/tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of AI‑driven user interfaces, leveraging computational design principles to create intuitive and engaging user‑centered experiences.
  • Collaborate with technologists and designers to integrate data‑driven design into products and services.
  • Translate user research, insights, and business requirements into meaningful design solutions.
  • Plan and conduct user research activities (interviews, usability testing, surveys, etc.) and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and interaction specifications.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to internal stakeholders with clarity and confidence. Create clear demo videos and documentation to communicate interaction behavior and design intent.
  • Iterate designs based on feedback, testing results, and technical constraints.
  • Advocate for best practices in computational interaction design methods across the organization.
