Insurance Wordings Lawyer (H/F/X)

Position Summary

French and/or Spanish speaking Insurance Wordings Lawyer to serve as Product Counsel in the Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) department at AIG, supporting international product lines outside of North America. Reports to the Head of Product Underwriting Legal.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and develop new and updated standard proprietary AIG products, policies, and endorsements across multiple product lines and jurisdictions.
• Provide advice to the Office of the Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and other senior stakeholders on policy and endorsement development.
• Develop AIG policies and endorsements based on broker and competitor carrier forms to address client‑specific exposures and promote AIG preferred wordings.
• Work with GLCR colleagues to address legal, regulatory and compliance issues related to product development and policy wordings.
• Provide guidance on policies and endorsements used by other market participants.
• Ensure underwriting intent is accurately reflected through clear, unambiguous wording.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Coverage Litigation teams and other internal groups to identify exposure trends and adjust wording accordingly.
• Drive remediation of existing policies and endorsements, identifying those that should be retired, updated or replaced.
• Act as liaison coordinating policy and endorsement drafting and discussions with business leaders and stakeholders.
• Support creation and implementation of a comprehensive policy and endorsement repository.
• Assist in developing guidelines and authorities to support product and wording governance.
• Provide policy and endorsement training for AIG colleagues and advise on AI‑enabled tools for wording management.

Qualifications

• Legal degree and professional qualification required; entitlement to practice preferred.
• Legal degree in a French and/or Spanish speaking jurisdiction preferred.
• Fluent business proficiency in French and/or Spanish, and in English.
• Demonstrated experience advising senior business partners or clients on complex (re)insurance wording, coverage, and related transactional matters.
• Drafting experience from a (re)insurer, broker, or law firm.
• Strong project prioritization, responsiveness and delivery in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communicator, able to distill complex legal concepts for non‑lawyers.
• Proactive problem‑solving with a track record of delivering fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Detail‑oriented and committed to thorough documentation supporting sustainable processes.
