Z adient Technologies is a French company developing an innovative process for producing silicon carbide with exceptionally low production costs and an unprecedented level of purity. The company operates upstream in the SiC semiconductor value chain, manufacturing the raw material from which SiC wafers and chips are produced.

Since its funding round in November 2025, Zadient has been accelerating its R&D efforts as well as its pilot activities in crystal growth and production technologies.

If you have an international start‑up mindset and enjoy an environment that values initiative, discipline in execution, teamwork, and inventiveness, this highly hands‑on role offers a strong career trajectory as Zadient accelerates its growth.

1. Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Investigate and resolve yield issues to improve technology transfer to a pre-industrial / manufacturing environment
  • Collect data and analyze process, product or equipment capabilities, performance and efficiency.
  • Develop associated improvement roadmaps.
  • Define and execute projects to deliver product quality and capability improvements in addition to cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
  • Operate and optimize high-temperature processes (>2,000°C) used in SiC crystal growth and material synthesis, including monitoring of thermal profiles, heating ramp rates, and furnace performance.
  • Work with vacuum systems and controlled-atmosphere environments integral to crystal growth (e.g., PVT – Physical Vapor Transport); ensure proper system operation, leak detection, and maintenance protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of SiC material synthesis processes, from raw material preparation through to crystal growth and post-growth characterization.
  • Support equipment design and modification activities, including the creation and review of CAD drawings (mechanical assemblies, furnace components, fixturing) in collaboration with the R&D and facilities teams.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Run Sheets to support the continuous operations (24/7); train operations staff (technicians and operators) accordingly.
  • From product qualification stage, serve as a product and process Subject Matter Expert (SME) and representative for internal and external customer quality and out of control related cases.

2. Working Relationships

  • Internal: you will report to the Director of R&D, and work in close collaboration with R&D Scientist and Engineers, the head of Facilities and the operations (operators, technicians)

3. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Electronical Engineering, Physical science, or related field.
  • Must have : Solid and demonstrated logical / scientific approach to identify issues and solve them: make observation, form hypothesis, develop a test plan (root cause analysis), run the test plan, analyse the data, provide conclusion and propose improvement.
  • Familiarity with high-temperature process environments and associated safety considerations.
  • Basic understanding of vacuum technology and controlled-atmosphere systems.
  • Knowledge of or interest in semiconductor materials and processes (SiC, Si, GaAs, GaO, or similar).
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience in crystal growth and associated defect characterization processes, wafer yield increase, throughput, process safety, and industrialization
  • Hands-on experience with material synthesis techniques (e.g., PVT, CVD, or related methods).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) for engineering drawings and equipment design support.
  • Few years of industrial experience in semiconductor, advanced materials, or related high-tech manufacturing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively throughout various levels of the organization, both orally and in writing
  • Rigorous documentation and organizational skills
  • Practical, hands-on mindset suited to small-scale R&D or pilot operations
  • Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally in a multidisciplinary team
  • Cultural fit with start-up spirit: strong autonomy, doer attitude

4. Specific conditions / What we offer

Employment type: full-time contract

We offer:

  • Competitive salary and flexible working conditions — 38 to 46k€ + bonus, depending on experience.
  • Opportunity to work on the next generation of SiC crystal growth and wafer manufacturing equipment in an agile and innovation‑driven environment.
  • Exposure to the full vertical process chain, from crystal growth to wafer finishing and metrology.
  • Ability to shape key process‑equipment capabilities at an early stage of industrial development.
  • A dynamic, interdisciplinary work environment within an international team.
  • Early involvement in an exciting project, with strong growth potential as the company scales.

SiC is a critical material for energy transition, enabling technologies such as electric vehicles, electric rail systems, wind turbines, solar panels, batteries, and aerospace applications. SiC chips are used in equipment such as inverters and chargers in electric vehicles, significantly improving driving range as well as charging speed and efficiency compared with silicon-based chips—resulting in substantial CO₂ reductions.

In April 2025, Zadient Technologies was selected to join the inaugural STEP Scale‑Up funding program of the European Innovation Council. The company is one of seven awardees chosen from hundreds of applicants, recognized as a leading growth‑stage company in one of Europe’s critical technology sectors.
