Responsibilities
- Pilot or co‑pilot R&D projects on new materials and processes, internally or externally, with or without client.
- Develop know‑how, especially for large‑dimension austenitic stainless steels.
- Promote technical solutions within the site and to clients.
- Support ongoing manufacturing (technical expertise).
- Contribute to technical feasibility studies for multi‑year R&D programmes.
- Document lessons learned on production or R&D parts.
- Perform metallurgical analyses from product and material perspectives.
- Assist in building a database and creating control charts for production results.
- Organize forging simulations and assist in developing simulation software.
- Characterize materials and types of ingots used.
- Contribute to forging ranges and their improvement.
- Develop know‑how through technical instructions.
- Support production teams (foundry, forging, machining).
- Lead studies with external partners.
- Maintain technological and scientific watch in the site’s activity domains.
Qualifications
- Bachelor‑level +5 engineering or Master 2 or PhD in metallurgy.
- Significant experience in metallurgy, forging, and heat treatments.
- Expertise in austenitic stainless steels.
- Mechanical knowledge.
- Familiarity with standards such as RCC‑M/ASME (plus).
- Research skills: literature review, experimental techniques.
- General skills: quality tools (5P, QQOQCP, Pareto, 5M), continuous improvement tools (8D/A3, Amdac), visual management.
- Technical English validated by TOEIC; good written documentation skills.
- Ability to work day‑time office; occasional on‑site visits to forging or casting.
- Occasional travel within France.
