Context
The Île‑de‑France Photovoltaic Institute (IPVF) is an institute for the energy transition created in 2013. It is a scientific and technical centre dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies, located on the Paris‑Saclay campus. IPVF collaborates with partners such as TotalEnergies, EDF, Horiba, Air Liquide, Riber, CNRS, and École Polytechnique. The institute aims to become one of the world’s leading centres for research, innovation and training in the field of energy transition.
Market, technico‑economic and environmental studies at IPVF
The responsibilities of this position are aligned with IPVF’s objective of providing key information on the photovoltaic technology market. The projects aim to strengthen IPVF’s knowledge and strategic positioning in terms of energy performance, techno‑economic analysis, environmental assessment and continuous advancement of photovoltaic technologies. The results enable IPVF to dynamically adjust its roadmap and provide partners with up‑to‑date insights for informed decision‑making.
Main missions
- Conduct PV market research, including stakeholder mapping and monitoring developments with consideration of application sectors and their sizes.
- Evaluate the commercialization potential of processes and technologies (e.g. perovskites, CdTe, III‑V, CIS, tandem technologies).
- Perform energy yield assessments of PV power plants based on modelling and simulations.
- Analyse various PV structure designs and provide information on performance optimisation.
- Conduct techno‑economic analyses and technology cost calculations (CoO, LCOE, ROI) for different PV technologies.
- Collaborate with team members to refine modelling, optimise studies and leverage diverse expertise.
- Collaborate with partners from various projects through consortia.
- Publish results in reputable journals, participate in conferences/workshops and contribute to reporting.
Profile
Knowledge
- English (required) and French (recommended)
- Knowledge of PV technologies (c‑Si, perovskites, etc.)
- Modelling
- Experience in optimising energy performance of PV structures
- Techno‑economic analyses (required)
- Environmental analyses (recommended)
Skills
- Knowledge of PVSyst or equivalent energy production calculation tool
- Knowledge of programming languages (Python)
- Knowledge of SimaPro (plus)
