Overview

Airbus Operations SAS in Toulouse, France is seeking a Human Factors Specialist to join the Aircraft Cockpit design team. The Human Factors function contributes to safety and customer operations efficiency by incorporating human performance and limitations into the design, development, certification, production and support of Airbus products, services and processes. The role aims to minimize flight crew workload, reduce risk of errors, enable effective normal and abnormal situation responses, and enhance pilot task performance. The department comprises about 30 specialists with diverse profiles and HF disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Bring Human Factors expertise to critical and complex cockpit layouts, functions, technologies and operations by working in a multidisciplinary team (pilots, designers, training centers representatives, safety specialists, and design office experts).
  • Analyze needs and factors influencing human performance; develop recommendations to inform the design of flying fleets or future products and lead Human Factors evaluations.
  • Carry out projects with partners and universities to develop scientific knowledge and continuously improve aviation safety.
  • Represent Airbus in international working groups dealing with regulation evolution or Safety Enhancement initiatives.

Your boarding pass / Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in applied UX/Human Factors with knowledge of human behavior (perception, understanding, problem solving) and HF methods applied to complex system design; awareness of fatigue, stress, workload, Situation Awareness, experience, competence, motivation, personality, etc.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and flight operations.
  • Knowledge of HF-related certification regulations for large commercial aircraft.
  • Extensive experience in aeronautical fields (airline, aircraft manufacturer, or aeronautical authorities); pilot license is a plus.
  • English negotiation level.
