HR Manager - Underwriting
We are creating a dedicated HR Manager position to support the continued growth and autonomisation of the Insurance Business Unit.
This role combines operational HR leadership, HR business partnering, organizational development, and international workforce coordination. The HR Manager will play a key role in structuring the HR function, supporting managers and employees, and helping scale the organization in a fast-paced and multicultural environment.
The role includes:
- Direct reporting line to the CEO of the Underwriting BU
- Close collaboration with the leadership team
- Coordination with AXA Group and AXA Climate HRD
- Support of an international workforce
The position requires the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a dynamic and international matrix organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Administration
- Oversee employee administration and contractual documentation (employment contracts, amendments, onboarding documentation, probation periods, employee files, etc.)
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
- Ensure compliance with labor law, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor headcount, working time, absences, leave management, and payroll variables
- In coordination with AXA Climate CFO & HRD :
- Supervise payroll processes through external providers
- Manage HR budgets and workforce planning
- Maintain and provide HR reporting, people analytics, and organizational data
Contribute to the deployment and optimization of HR tools and systems
- Coordinate international HR processes with local HR Managers
2. Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding
- Partner with managers to identify recruitment needs
- Draft and publish job descriptions
- Source, assess, and interview candidates
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes
- Strengthen employer branding initiatives through LinkedIn, universities, professional networks, and industry events
- Continuously improve candidate experience
- Support international hiring and cross-border talent mobility when relevant
3. HR Development & Business Partnering
- Coordinate performance and career development processes
- Co-build and manage learning and development initiatives
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and managers
- Support managers in team organization, performance management, and employee engagement
- Contribute to the implementation of HR policies related to compensation, mobility, talent development, and performance
- Support leadership teams in scaling an international and multicultural organization
4. Employee Relations & HR Governance
- Prepare and coordinate employee representative body interactions where applicable
- Monitor employee relations and workplace climate
- Conduct legal and HR watch on labor and social regulations
- Ensure compliance with mandatory HR obligations and documentation
- Liaise with AXA Climate HRD and AXA HR stakeholders on governance and international HR topics
5. Culture, Engagement & International Collaboration
- Support the development of a strong and inclusive international culture across distributed teams
- Monitor HR KPIs such as retention, engagement, employee satisfaction, and pulse surveys
- Organize and support internal initiatives strengthening team cohesion across countries and entities
Qualifications
Education : Master’s degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Business Administration, or equivalent
Experience : 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within insurance, financial services, or a regulated international environment
HR background : Strong HR generalist and HR Business Partner background
International experience : Experience supporting international and multicultural teams across multiple countries is a plus
Skills
Strong knowledge of French labor law and core HR operations
Knowledge of UK employment law would be a strong asset
Ability to combine strategic HR thinking with a hands-on and operational mindset
Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
Experience in talent acquisition, employee development, and organizational support
Comfortable working in an international and matrix environment
Fluent in English and French
