About the role
DNA Script is a Franco‑American biotech with around 70 employees, specializing in enzymatic DNA synthesis. You will join an agile, international organization with teams based primarily in France (HQ), along with a few individuals in the US.
You will be the company's sole HR contact, reporting directly to the CFO in charge of support functions. You will rely on external providers (payroll firm, employment law counsel) for specialized topics.
This is primarily an operational role: keeping HR running smoothly day to day, with rigor, responsiveness, and practical judgment.
Day‑to‑day HR operations
- Manage onboarding and offboarding end to end
- Coordinate outsourced payroll and ensure its accuracy
- Oversee personnel administration in coordination with external providers
- Keep HR data accurate and up to date
- Handle absences, leave, and sick days
- Serve as the HR point of contact for all managers across the company
- Provide practical advice on team, recruitment, and organizational matters
- Handle sensitive individual cases with sound judgment and discretion
Compliance and employee relations
- Ensure HR practices comply with French labor law
- Prepare and run CSE meetings
- Manage sensitive situations in coordination with external legal counsel
- Apply and maintain internal policies consistently
Recruitment
- Lead recruitment processes end to end in support of managers
- Ensure a consistent, high‑quality candidate experience
Performance & development
- Roll out and run performance review cycles
- Identify training needs and implement targeted actions
- Support managers in performance management
What we are looking for
- 4+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or HRBP, ideally in an SME or startup
- Prior experience in a technology or scientific environment
- Comfortable managing a full HR scope independently (sole HR contact)
- Good command of French labor law
- Service mindset, responsiveness, and ability to juggle diverse topics
- Comfortable with HR tools and standard office software
- Professional English required - French fluency essential (international team and providers)
