Offer Description

The Mésocentre is the shared HPC/AI infrastructure of Aix-Marseille Université, a member of the national MesoNET network (EquipEx+) and a key node of the future sovereign academic cloud MesoCloud (national research infrastructure candidacy in progress).

Mission The successful candidate will ensure the deployment, management and evolution of computing and scientific virtualisation environments, in connection with the structural projects FEDER MesoSUD Santé, MassilIA and IR MesoCloud.

Main responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise HPC clusters (SLURM, monitoring, queue management)
• Deploy and administer virtualised environments and containerisation solutions (Docker, Singularity/Apptainer)
• Administer distributed storage systems (BeeGFS, NFS) and manage research data lifecycles
• Support and train users: job submission, scientific code porting (Python, C/C++, CUDA)
• Deploy monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix) and apply cybersecurity best practices
• Contribute to structural projects (MesoNET, IR MesoCloud) in coordination with regional partners

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent engineering degree (Bac+5)
• Recent graduates welcome; some experience in HPC or advanced Linux systems is an asset
• Solid knowledge of Linux systems, virtualisation, containerisation, HPC schedulers, distributed storage
• French is the working language of the team; non-French speakers must be willing to undertake French language training upon taking up the post.

Specific Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience in HPC or Linux system administration. Recent graduates with relevant project or internship experience welcome. English B2–C1 required. Master's degree or equivalent engineering degree.

Additional Information

24-month fixed-term contract, renewable once (permanent position planned at end of project). Net salary negotiable depending on experience. Partial reimbursement of public transport costs across the département. Bonus after 12 months for non-permanent staff. Up to 58 days of annual leave per year (depending on working schedule). Selection process

Two-stage selection process: (1) interview with the CCIAM Director to assess motivation and understanding of the role; (2) technical interview with the engineering team, including a short presentation by the candidate.
