Overview

Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute is looking for an experienced full‑time Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specialized in Hematology/Oncology to provide quality health services to patients in the Charlotte and surrounding community. This position is occupied by AGACNP/ACNP nurse practitioners (NP) and/or physician assistants (PA) who care for patients in the hospital or in clinics as they go through diagnosis and treatment of Hematologic Malignancies. The APP is responsible for evaluating and treating patients with hematologic malignancies and/or hematologic disorders, stem cell transplant patients, CAR‑T, and clinical trial patients.

Outpatient Position Description

  • Levine Cancer Institute- Morehead Outpatient Clinics
  • Survivorship, acute and routine visits, toxicity visits, chemo teaches
  • Clinic is open Monday – Friday; schedule consists of 4 days/10‑hour shift or 5 days/8‑hour shifts
  • Chemo certification and bone marrow biopsy training required

Position Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program; must be an Acute Care NP or Physician Assistant.
  • Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina; current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required; BLS for healthcare provider from AHA required.
  • NPs must hold a master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice; AGACNP/ACNP certification required for inpatient positions.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred; current or pending CAQ certification preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience as a provider preferred; hematology/oncology experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment; able to perform thorough history and physical assessment and work with multidisciplinary team.
  • NC licensure required.

Essential Functions

  • Perform initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Record findings of examinations, assessments, and plans of care.
  • Perform a wide range of surgical and/or medical procedures.
  • Write appropriate prescriptions and administer medications.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determine treatment plan for patient.
  • Document all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient’s medical record.
  • Act as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attend, participate, and contribute to group/practice meetings and develop policies and procedures when requested.

Physical Requirements

  • Walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, bend, stoop, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Speak English fluently and in understandable terms.
  • Possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity.
  • Have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
