Heavy Lift Supervisor - SPMT Operations

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Lift Supervisor with strong SPMT knowledge to support complex heavy lift and transport operations on major industrial projects. This role is critical in ensuring the safe planning, coordination, and execution of heavy lifts involving Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) and crane operations.

SPMTs are modular, multi‑axle vehicles with independent steering and propulsion, designed to transport extremely heavy or oversized loads. You will play a key role in transporting, positioning, aligning, and supporting heavy components through to final installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, and supervise heavy lift and SPMT operations on site
• Coordinate SPMT movements for transporting large modules, equipment, and structural components
• Ensure precise positioning of loads under cranes or within installation zones
• Support load rotation and alignment activities where applicable
• Work closely with crane operators, riggers, transport teams, and subcontractors to ensure safe sequencing of operations
• Review lift plans, conduct risk assessments, and ensure ground bearing and route suitability
• Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, company standards, and site regulations
• Monitor lift execution, identify risks, and resolve issues in real time
• Maintain accurate records of lifts, equipment usage, and operational reports

Skills & Knowledge Required

• Strong understanding of load weights, centres of gravity, and stability principles
• Proven experience planning SPMT routes and coordinating transport with lifting operations
• Solid knowledge of heavy lift workflows, modular transport, and crane operations
• Ability to supervise multi‑discipline teams in high‑risk environments
• Confident reading lift plans and basic engineering drawings

Requirements

• 2–15 years’ experience in heavy lift supervision, rigging, crane operations, or heavy transport
• In‑depth knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging methods, and safety best practices
• Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills
• English required; German language skills are a plus
