Head of Internal Audit

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Internal Audit to lead our internal assurance functions across AXA Partners’ international operations. You will play a critical role in strengthening our control environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness within a complex, dynamic organization.

What you’ll be doing:

Leadership & Strategy:

Lead and oversee the Internal Audit function for AXA Partners, aligning with Group and IIA standards. Develop and implement the audit strategy, ensuring timely, independent, and objective assurance to the Board and Audit Committees regarding the adequacy of internal controls and risk management processes.

Team Management & Development:

Manage a diverse team of approximately 14 professionals, including 4 direct reports. Foster a high-performance culture, mentor emerging leaders, and identify talent development opportunities to strengthen the team’s capabilities.

Risk & Control Oversight:

Collaborate closely with AXA Partners’ management and external stakeholders to evaluate, challenge, and improve risk management, governance, and control frameworks. Lead audits on existing and new business activities, processes, and associated risks.

Regulatory & Compliance:

Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including all mandatory reporting to the ACPR. Maintain and nurture strong relationships with regulators, external auditors, and industry peers.

Investigation & Whistleblowing:

Own and oversee all whistleblowing procedures and investigations, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and reporting to Group Head of Investigations as required.

Continuous Improvement & Industry Insight:

Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices. Contribute actively to the Group Audit Leadership Team and support strategic initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain effective relationships with senior management, Boards, and external partners, articulating complex issues clearly and convincingly.

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure all audit activities adhere to AXA policies and professional standards, with a focus on delivering value-added insights that support sustainable improvements.

Personal Development:

Maintain and enhance your professional competencies through continuous learning and active participation in industry forums.

What you’ll bring:

Qualifications & Experience:

Proven senior leadership experience within Internal Audit, Financial Services, Insurance, or related control functions.

Extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks, particularly the ACPR in France.

Demonstrated success managing multicultural, remote teams and complex stakeholder environments.

Strong understanding of risk management, internal control systems, and audit practices.

Experience working with Boards, Audit Committees, regulators, and external auditors.

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent strategic thinking, judgment, and problem-solving abilities.

Superior communication skills in both French and English, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a high level of integrity.

Strong business acumen with the ability to challenge and influence existing processes.
