Role Overview
The Head of Export Control & Sanctions Regulatory supports Airbus’s commitment to integrity by ensuring consistent implementation of sanctions and export control regulations and procedures across the company. This role works closely with divisions and subsidiaries, especially for sanctions management and classification strategy, while promoting a strong compliance culture.
Responsibilities
- Managing a team of seven compliance expert managers primarily based in Europe.
- Designing, updating and deploying export control policies related to sanctions and classification, including directives, methods and guidelines to address regulatory changes; overseeing implementation and fostering a consistent, group-wide approach.
- Providing group-wide training on sanctions and classification to exposed populations.
- Managing the Legal Expert Group on sanctions to raise awareness within Airbus Legal & Compliance.
- Reinforcing the existing network across Airbus Commercial, Airspace & Defence, and Airbus Helicopters; providing sanctions regulatory watch and sharing it with subsidiaries and affiliates.
- Advising the business on sanctions, embargoes and diversions, and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Co‑leading projects to review processes and tools applicable to the aircraft lifecycle.
- Leading Airbus external engagement and representation for sanctions compliance toward industry and government.
- Providing strategic requirements and governance for the development and operation of automated digital tools, using AI and data structures to optimize screening and classification.
Qualifications
- At least ten years of experience in export control and/or sanctions compliance, with a strong focus on EU and US export control (ideally in aerospace).
- Management experience in a similar role is a plus.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to involve others appropriately.
- Excellent written communication skills in English.
- Strong relationship building, networking, interpersonal and communication skills.
- High degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality and trust.
- Ability to support business pressure on daily files.
- Fluency in English and French.
